⁵ And ye haue forgotten the consolation, which speaketh vnto you as vnto children, My sonne, despise not the chastening of the Lord, neither faint when thou art rebuked of him.

⁹ But take heede to thy selfe, and keepe thy soule diligently, that thou forget not the thinges which thine eyes haue seene, and that they depart not out of thine heart, all the dayes of thy life: but teach them thy sonnes, and thy sonnes sonnes: ¹⁰ Forget not the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the Lord said vnto me, Gather me the people together, and I wil cause them heare my wordes, that they may learne to feare me all the dayes that they shall liue vpon the earth, and that they may teache their children:

⁷ And Ioshua said, Alas, O Lord God, wherefore hast thou brought this people ouer Iorden, to deliuer vs into the hande of the Amorites, and to destroye vs? would God we had bene content to dwell on the other side Iorden. ⁸ Oh Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turne their backes before their enemies? ⁹ For the Canaanites, and all the inhabitants of the land shall heare of it, and shall compasse vs, and destroy our name out of the earth: and what wilt thou doe vnto thy mightie Name? ¹⁰ And the Lord said vnto Ioshua, Get thee vp: wherefore lyest thou thus vpon thy face? ¹¹ Israel hath sinned, and they haue transgressed my couenant, which I commanded them: for they haue euen taken of the excommunicate thing, and haue also stollen, and dissembled also, and haue put it euen with their owne stuffe.

⁷ And the Lord was verie wroth with Vzzah, and God smote him in the same place for his fault, and there he dyed by the Arke of God. ⁸ And Dauid was displeased, because the Lord had smitten Vzzah: and he called the name of the place Perez Vzzah vntill this day. ⁹ Therefore Dauid that day feared the Lord, and sayd, How shall the Arke of the Lord come to mee? ¹⁰ So Dauid would not bring the Arke of the Lord vnto him into the citie of Dauid, but Dauid caried it into ye house of Obed-edom a Gittite.

⁹ And when they came vnto the thresshing floore of Chidon, Vzza put forth his hand to holde the Arke, for the oxen did shake it. ¹⁰ But the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Vzza, and he smote him, because he layed his hande vpon the Arke: so he dyed there before God. ¹¹ And Dauid was angrie, because the Lord had made a breach in Vzza, and he called the name of that place Perez-vzza vnto this day. ¹² And Dauid feared God that day, saying, Howe shall I bring in to me the Arke of God? ¹³ Therefore Dauid brought not the Arke to him into the citie of Dauid, but caused it to turne into the house of Obed Edom the Gittite.

¹² And he saide vnto them, Ye are the chiefe fathers of the Leuites: sanctifie your selues, and your brethren, and bring vp the Arke of the Lord God of Israel vnto the place that I haue prepared for it. ¹³ For because ye were not there at the first, the Lord our God made a breach among vs: for we sought him not after due order.

¹⁷ Beholde, blessed is the man whome God correcteth: therefore refuse not thou the chastising of the Almightie. ¹⁸ For he maketh the wound, and bindeth it vp: he smiteth, and his handes make whole.

³¹ Surely it appertaineth vnto God to say, I haue pardoned, I will not destroy.

¹ To him that excelleth on Neginoth upon the eith tune. A Psalme of Dauid. O lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chastise me in thy wrath. ² Haue mercie vpon me, O Lord, for I am weake: O Lord heale me, for my bones are vexed.

¹² Blessed is the man, whom thou chastisest, O Lord, and teachest him in thy Lawe,

¹⁸ The Lord hath chastened me sore, but he hath not deliuered me to death.

¹⁶ I will delite in thy statutes, and I will not forget thy worde.

⁷⁵ I knowe, O Lord, that thy iudgements are right, and that thou hast afflicted me iustly.

⁸³ For I am like a bottell in the smoke: yet doe I not forget thy statutes.

¹⁰⁹ My soule is continually in mine hande: yet doe I not forget thy Lawe.

¹ My sonne, forget not thou my Lawe, but let thine heart keepe my commandements.

¹¹ My sonne, refuse not the chastening of the Lord, neither be grieued with his correction. ¹² For the Lord correcteth him, whome he loueth, euen as the father doeth the childe in whom he deliteth.

⁵ Get wisedom: get vnderstading: forget not, neither decline from the woordes of my mouth.

¹⁸ I haue heard Ephraim lamenting thus, Thou hast corrected me, and I was chastised as an vntamed calfe: conuert thou me, and I shalbe conuerted: for thou art the Lord my God.

⁹ Doe ye not yet perceiue, neither remember the fiue loaues, when there were fiue thousand men, and how many baskets tooke ye vp? ¹⁰ Neither the seuen loaues when there were foure thousande men, and howe many baskets tooke ye vp?

⁶ He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake vnto you, when he was yet in Galile,

⁸ And they remembred his wordes,

³² But when we are iudged, we are chastened of the Lord, because we should not be condemned with the world.

⁸ Wee are afflicted on euery side, yet are we not in distresse: we are in doubt, but yet wee despaire not. ⁹ We are persecuted, but not forsaken: cast downe, but we perish not.

⁹ And he said vnto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is made perfect through weakenesse. Very gladly therefore will I reioyce rather in mine infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. ¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproches, in necessities, in persecutions, in anguish for Christes sake: for when I am weake, then am I strong.

³ Consider therefore him that endured such speaking against of sinners, lest ye should be wearied and faint in your mindes. ⁴ Ye haue not yet resisted vnto blood, striuing against sinne.

⁷ If ye endure chastening, God offereth him selfe vnto you as vnto sonnes: for what sonne is it whom the father chasteneth not?

¹² Blessed is ye man, that endureth tentation: for when he is tried, hee shall receiue the crowne of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that loue him.

¹⁹ As many as I loue, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore and amend.
