⁵ At the same houre appeared fingers of a mans hand, which wrote ouer against the candlesticke vpon the plaister of the wall of ye Kings palace, and the King sawe the palme of the hand that wrote.

⁵ That the reioycing of the wicked is short, and that the ioy of hypocrites is but a moment?

³⁰ They were not turned from their lust, but the meate was yet in their mouthes, ³¹ When the wrath of God came euen vpon them, and slew the strongest of them, and smote downe the chosen men in Israel.

¹ A man that hardeneth his necke when he is rebuked, shall suddenly be destroyed and can not be cured.

³¹ And at the ende of these dayes I Nebuchad-nezzar lift vp mine eyes vnto heauen, and mine vnderstanding was restored vnto me, and I gaue thankes vnto the most High, and I praysed and honoured him that liueth for euer, whose power is an euerlasting power, and his kingdome is from generation to generation.

³³ At the same time was mine vnderstanding restored vnto me, and I returned to the honour of my kingdome: my glory and my beautie was restored vnto me, and my counsellours and my princes sought vnto me, and I was established in my kingdome, and my glory was augmented toward me.

⁸ Then came all the Kings wise men, but they could neither reade the writing, nor shewe the King the interpretation.

¹⁵ Now therefore, wisemen and astrologians haue bene brought before me, that they should reade this writing, and shewe me the interpretation thereof: but they could not declare the interpretation of the thing.

²⁴ Then was the palme of the hand sent from him, and hath written this writing. ²⁵ And this is the writing that he hath written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing, MENE, God hath nombred thy kingdome, and hath finished it. ²⁷ TEKEL, thou art wayed in the balance, and art found too light. ²⁸ PERES, thy kingdome is deuided, and giuen to the Medes and Persians.

¹⁹ And I wil say to my soule, Soule, thou hast much goods laide vp for many yeeres: liue at ease, eate, drinke and take thy pastime. ²⁰ But God said vnto him, O foole, this night wil they fetch away thy soule from thee: then whose shall those things be which thou hast prouided?

¹⁴ And putting out the hand writing of ordinances that was against vs, which was contrarie to vs, hee euen tooke it out of the way, and fastened it vpon the crosse,

² For ye your selues knowe perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall come, euen as a thiefe in the night. ³ For when they shall say, Peace, and safetie, then shall come vpon them sudden destruction, as the trauaile vpon a woman with childe, and they shall not escape,

¹² And I saw the dead, both great and small stand before God: and the bookes were opened, and another booke was opened, which is the booke of life, and the dead were iudged of those thinges, which were written in the bookes, according to their woorkes. ¹³ And the sea gaue vp her dead, which were in her, and death and hell deliuered vp the dead, which were in them: and they were iudged euery man according to their woorkes. ¹⁴ And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire: this is the second death. ¹⁵ And whosoeuer was not found written in the booke of life, was cast into the lake of fire.
