²² And thou his sonne, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all these things,

³ Then came Moses and Aaron vnto Pharaoh, and they said vnto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Ebrewes, Howe long wilt thou refuse to humble thy selfe before me? Let my people goe, that they may serue me.

²³ And he humbled not him selfe before the Lord, as Manasseh his father had humbled himselfe: but this Amon trespassed more and more.

¹² And he did euill in the sight of the Lord his God, and humbled not himselfe before Ieremiah the Prophet at the commandement of the Lord,

⁸ Then Peter ful of the holy Ghost, said vnto them, Ye rulers of the people, and Elders of Israel, ⁹ For as much as we this day are examined of the good deede done to the impotent man, to wit, by what meanes he is made whole, ¹⁰ Be it knowen vnto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye haue crucified, whome God raised againe from the dead, euen by him doth this man stand here before you, whole. ¹¹ This is the stone cast aside of you builders which is become the head of the corner. ¹² Neither is there saluation in any other: for among men there is giuen none other Name vnder heauen, whereby we must be saued. ¹³ Now when they sawe the boldnes of Peter and Iohn, and vnderstoode that they were vnlearned men and without knowledge, they marueiled, and knew them, that they had bin with Iesus:

²⁹ Then Peter and the Apostles answered, and sayd, We ought rather to obey God then men. ³⁰ The God of our fathers hath raised vp Iesus, whom ye slewe, and hanged on a tree. ³¹ Him hath God lift vp with his right hand, to be a Prince and a Sauiour, to giue repentance to Israel, and forgiuenes of sinnes. ³² And we are his witnesses concerning these things which we say: yea, and the holy Ghost, whome God hath giuen to them that obey him. ³³ Now when they heard it, they brast for anger, and consulted to slay them.

⁶ But the Scripture offereth more grace, and therefore sayth, God resisteth the proude, and giueth grace to the humble.

¹⁷ Therefore, to him that knoweth how to doe well, and doeth it not, to him it is sinne.

⁵ Likewise ye yonger, submit your selues vnto the elders, and submit your selues euery man, one to another: decke your selues inwardly in lowlinesse of minde: for God resisteth the proude, and giueth grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble your selues therefore vnder the mightie hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
