¹² Therefore, thus wil I do vnto thee, O Israel: and because I wil doe this vnto thee, prepare to meete thy God, O Israel.

³ Thy filthinesse shall be discouered, and thy shame shall be seene: I will take vengeance, and I will not meete thee as a man.

⁵ Ye haue not risen vp in the gappes, neither made vp the hedge for ye house of Israel, to stand in the battel in the daye of the Lord.

³⁰ And I sought for a man among them, that should make vp the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.

⁸ I will meete them, as a beare that is robbed of her whelpes, and I will breake the kall of their heart, and there will I deuoure them like a lion: the wilde beast shall teare them.

¹⁴ Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mightie saue his life.

² The Lord God hath sworne by his holines, that loe, the dayes shall come vpon you, that hee wil take you away with thornes, and your posteritie with fish hookes. ³ And ye shall goe out at the breaches euery kow forward: and ye shall cast your selues out of the palace, saith the Lord.

⁴ For thus saith the Lord vnto the house of Israel, Seeke ye me, and ye shall liue. ⁵ But seeke not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and go not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall goe into captiuitie, and Beth-el shall come to nought. ⁶ Seeke the Lord, and yee shall liue, least he breake out like fire in the house of Ioseph and deuoure it, and there be none to quench it in Beth-el. ⁷ They turne iudgement to wormewood, and leaue off righteousnes in the earth. ⁸ He maketh Pleiades, and Orion, and he turneth the shadowe of death into the morning, and he maketh the day darke as night: he calleth the waters of the sea, and powreth them out vpon the open earth: the Lord is his Name. ⁹ He strengtheneth the destroyer against the mightie: and the destroyer shall come against the fortresse. ¹⁰ They haue hated him, that rebuked in the gate: and they abhorred him that speaketh vprightly. ¹¹ Forasmuch then as your treading is vpon the poore, and yee take from him burdens of wheate, ye haue built houses of hewen stone, but ye shall not dwel in them: ye haue plated pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drinke wine of them. ¹² For I know your manifold transgressions, and your mightie sinnes: they afflict the iust, they take rewards, and they oppresse the poore in ye gate. ¹³ Therefore the prudent shall keepe silence in that time, for it is an euill time. ¹⁴ Seeke good and not euil, that ye may liue: and the Lord God of hostes shalbe with you, as you haue spoken. ¹⁵ Hate the euil, and loue the good, and establish iudgement in the gate: it may bee that the Lord God of hostes will be mercifull vnto the remnant of Ioseph.

¹ I sawe the Lord standing vpon the altar, and he sayde, Smite the lintel of the doore, that the postes may shake: and cut them in pieces, euen the heads of them all, and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them, shall not flee away: and he that escapeth of them, shall not be deliuered. ² Though they digge into the hell, thence shall mine hande take them: though they clime vp to heauen, thence will I bring them downe. ³ And though they hide them selues in the toppe of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence: and though they be hid from my sight in the bottome of the sea, thence will I commande the serpent, and he shall bite them. ⁴ And though they goe into captiuitie before their enemies, thence wil I commande the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes vpon them for euill, and not for good.

²⁵ Agree with thine aduersarie quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him, lest thine aduersarie deliuer thee to the Iudge, and the Iudge deliuer thee to ye sergeant, and thou be cast into prison.

⁴⁴ Therefore be ye also ready: for in the houre that ye thinke not, will the Sonne of man come.

³² But of that day and houre knoweth no man, no, not the Angels which are in heauen, neither the Sonne himselfe, but the Father. ³³ Take heede: watch, and praie: for yee knowe not when the time is. ³⁴ For the Sonne of man is as a man going into a strange countrey, and leaueth his house, and giueth authoritie to his seruaunts, and to euery man his woorke, and commandeth the porter to watch. ³⁵ Watch ye therefore, (for ye know not whe ye master of the house will come, at eue, or at midnight, at the cocke crowing, or in the dawning,) ³⁶ Least if he come suddenly, he should finde you sleeping. ³⁷ And those things that I say vnto you, I say vnto all men, Watch.

³¹ Or what King going to make warre against another King, sitteth not downe first, and taketh counsell, whether he be able with ten thousande, to meete him that commeth against him with twentie thousand? ³² Or els while hee is yet a great way off, hee sendeth an ambassage, and desireth peace.

³ And he sayd, Of a trueth I say vnto you, that this poore widowe hath cast in more then they all. ⁴ For they all haue of their superfluitie cast into the offerings of God: but she of her penurie hath cast in all the liuing that she had. ⁵ Nowe as some spake of the Temple, how it was garnished with goodly stones, and with consecrate things, he sayd, ⁶ Are these ye things that ye looke vpon? the dayes will come wherein a stone shall not be left vpon a stone, that shall not be throwen downe. ⁷ Then they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what signe shall there be when these things shall come to passe? ⁸ And he sayd, Take heede, that ye be not deceiued: for many will come in my Name, saying, I am Christ, and the time draweth neere: follow ye not them therefore. ⁹ And when ye heare of warres and seditions, be not afraid: for these things must first come, but the ende foloweth not by and by. ¹⁰ Then said hee vnto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdome against kingdome, ¹¹ And great earthquakes shall be in diuers places, and hunger, and pestilence, and fearefull things, and great signes shall there be from heauen. ¹² But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, deliuering you vp to the assemblies, and into prisons, and bring you before Kings and rulers for my Names sake. ¹³ And this shall turne to you, for a testimoniall. ¹⁴ Lay it vp therefore in your heartes, that ye cast not before hand, what ye shall answere. ¹⁵ For I will giue you a mouth and wisdome, where against all your aduersaries shall not be able to speake, nor resist. ¹⁶ Yea, ye shalbe betrayed also of your parents, and of your brethren, and kinsmen, and friendes, and some of you shall they put to death. ¹⁷ And ye shall bee hated of all men for my Names sake. ¹⁸ Yet there shall not one heare of your heads perish. ¹⁹ By your patience possesse your soules. ²⁰ And when ye see Hierusalem besieged with souldiers, then vnderstand that the desolation thereof is neere. ²¹ Then let them which are in Iudea, flee to the mountaines: and let them which are in the middes thereof, depart out: and let not them that are in the countrey, enter therein. ²² For these be the dayes of vengeance, to fulfill all things that are written. ²³ But woe be to them that be with childe, and to them that giue sucke in those dayes: for there shalbe great distresse in this land, and wrath ouer this people. ²⁴ And they shall fall on the edge of the sword, and shalbe led captiue into all nations, and Hierusalem shalbe troden vnder foote of the Gentiles, vntill the time of the Gentiles be fulfilled. ²⁵ Then there shalbe signes in the sunne, and in the moone, and in the starres, and vpon the earth trouble among the nations with perplexitie: the sea and the waters shall roare. ²⁶ And mens hearts shall faile them for feare, and for looking after those thinges which shall come on the worlde: for the powers of heauen shall be shaken. ²⁷ And then shall they see the Sonne of man come in a cloude, with power and great glory. ²⁸ And when these things beginne to come to passe, then looke vp, and lift vp your heades: for your redemption draweth neere. ²⁹ And he spake to them a parable, Behold, the figge tree, and all trees, ³⁰ When they nowe shoote foorth, ye seeing them, knowe of your owne selues, that sommer is then neere. ³¹ So likewise yee, when yee see these thinges come to passe, knowe ye that the kingdome of God is neere. ³² Verely I say vnto you, This age shall not passe, till all these things be done: ³³ Heauen and earth shall passe away, but my wordes shall not passe away. ³⁴ Take heede to your selues, lest at any time your hearts be oppressed with surfeting and drunkennesse, and cares of this life, and least that day come on you at vnwares. ³⁵ For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Watche therefore, and pray continually, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these thinges that shall come to passe, and that ye may stand before the Sonne of man.

² For ye your selues knowe perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall come, euen as a thiefe in the night. ³ For when they shall say, Peace, and safetie, then shall come vpon them sudden destruction, as the trauaile vpon a woman with childe, and they shall not escape, ⁴ But ye, brethren, are not in darkenes, that that day shall come on you, as it were a thiefe.

¹ From whence are warres and contentions among you? are they not hence, euen of your pleasures, that fight in your members? ² Ye lust, and haue not: ye enuie, and desire immoderately, and cannot obtaine: ye fight and warre, and get nothing, because ye aske not. ³ Ye aske, and receiue not, because ye aske amisse, that ye might lay the same out on your pleasures. ⁴ Ye adulterers and adulteresses, knowe ye not that the amitie of the world is the enimitie of God? Whosoeuer therefore will be a friend of the world, maketh himselfe the enemie of God. ⁵ Doe ye thinke that the Scripture sayeth in vaine, The spirit that dwelleth in vs, lusteth after enuie? ⁶ But the Scripture offereth more grace, and therefore sayth, God resisteth the proude, and giueth grace to the humble. ⁷ Submit your selues to God: resist the deuill, and he will flee from you. ⁸ Drawe neere to God, and he will drawe neere to you. Clense your handes, ye sinners, and purge your hearts, ye double minded. ⁹ Suffer afflictions, and sorrowe ye, and weepe: let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your ioy into heauinesse. ¹⁰ Cast downe your selues before the Lord, and he will lift you vp.

³ Remember therefore, how thou hast receiued and heard, and hold fast and repent. If therefore thou wilt not watch, I will come on thee as a thiefe, and thou shalt not know what houre I wil come vpon thee.
