⁴¹ So they departed from the Councill, reioycing, that they were counted worthy to suffer rebuke for his Name.

¹⁰ I will greatly reioyce in the Lord, and my soule shall be ioyfull in my God: for he hath clothed mee with the garments of saluation, and couered me with the robe of righteousnes: hee hath decked me like a bridegrome, and as a bride tireth herselfe with her iewels.

¹⁴ Beholde, my seruants shall sing for ioye of heart, and ye shall crye for sorow of heart, and shall howle for vexation of minde.

⁵ Heare the worde of the Lord, all ye that tremble at his worde, Your brethren that hated you, and cast you out for my Names sake, said, Let the Lord be glorified: but he shall appeare to your ioy, and they shall be ashamed.

¹⁰ Blessed are they which suffer persecution for righteousnes sake: for theirs is the kingdome of heauen. ¹¹ Blessed shall ye be when men reuile you, and persecute you, and say all maner of euill against you for my sake, falsely. ¹² Reioyce and be glad, for great is your reward in heauen: for so persecuted they the Prophets which were before you.

²² Blessed are ye when men hate you, and when they separate you, and reuile you, and put out your name as euill, for the Sonne of mans sake.

²¹ But all these things will they doe vnto you for my Names sake, because they haue not knowen him that sent me.

²³ And when they had beaten them sore, they cast them into prison, commaunding the Iayler to keepe them surely. ²⁴ Who hauing receiued such commandement, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feete fast in the stockes. ²⁵ Nowe at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sung Psalmes vnto God: and the prisoners heard them.

³ Neither that onely, but also we reioyce in tribulations, knowing that tribulation bringeth forth patience,

¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproches, in necessities, in persecutions, in anguish for Christes sake: for when I am weake, then am I strong.

²⁹ For vnto you it is giuen for Christ, that not onely ye should beleeue in him, but also suffer for his sake,

³⁴ For both ye sorowed with mee for my bonds, and suffered with ioy the spoyling of your goods, knowing in your selues howe that ye haue in heauen a better, and an enduring substance.

² Looking vnto Iesus the authour and finisher of our faith, who for the ioy that was set before him, endured the crosse, and despised the shame, and is set at the right hand of the throne of God.

² My brethren, count it exceeding ioy, when ye fall into diuers tentations,

¹³ But reioyce, in asmuch as ye are partakers of Christs suffrings, that when his glory shall appeare, ye may be glad and reioyce. ¹⁴ If yee be railed vpon for the Name of Christ, blessed are ye: for the spirit of glory, and of God resteth vpon you: which on their part is euill spoken of: but on your part is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murtherer, or as a thiefe, or an euil doer, or as a busibodie in other mens matters. ¹⁶ But if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not bee ashamed: but let him glorifie God in this behalfe.
