⁴ Howbeit, many of them which heard the word, beleeued, and the number of the men was about fiue thousand.

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Iudah, nor a Lawegiuer from betweene his feete, vntill Shiloh come, and the people shall be gathered vnto him.

²⁴ Surely he shall say, In the Lord haue I righteousnesse and strength: he shall come vnto him, and all that prouoke him, shall be ashamed.

¹² Therefore will I giue him a portion with the great, and he shall deuide the spoyle with the strong, because hee hath powred out his soule vnto death: and he was counted with the transgressers, and he bare the sinne of many, and prayed for the trespassers.

²⁴ Verely, verely I say vnto you, Except the wheate corne fall into the grounde and die, it bideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth foorth much fruite.

⁴¹ Then they that gladly receiued his word, were baptized: and the same day there were added to the Church about three thousand soules.

²⁴ And some were persuaded with ye things which were spoken, and some beleeued not.

¹⁴ Now thankes be vnto God, which alwaies maketh vs to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the sauour of his knowledge by vs in euery place. ¹⁵ For wee are vnto God the sweete sauour of Christ, in them that are saued, and in them which perish. ¹⁶ To the one we are the sauour of death, vnto death, and to the other the sauour of life, vnto life: and who is sufficient for these things? ¹⁷ For wee are not as many, which make marchandise of the woorde of God: but as of sinceritie, but as of God in ye sight of God speake we in Christ.

¹² I would ye vnderstood, brethren, that the things which haue come vnto me, are turned rather to the furthering of the Gospell, ¹³ So that my bandes in Christ are famous throughout all the iudgement hall, and in all other places, ¹⁴ In so much that many of the brethren in the Lord are boldened through my bandes, and dare more frankely speake the word. ¹⁵ Some preache. Christ euen through enuie and strife, and some also of good will. ¹⁶ The one part preacheth Christ of contention and not purely, supposing to adde more affliction to my bandes. ¹⁷ But the others of loue, knowing that I am set for the defence of the Gospell. ¹⁸ What then? yet Christ is preached all maner wayes, whether it be vnder a pretence, or syncerely: and I therein ioye: yea and will ioye.

⁹ Wherein I suffer trouble as an euill doer, euen vnto bondes: but the worde of God is not bounde. ¹⁰ Therefore I suffer all things, for the elects sake, that they might also obtaine the saluation which is in Christ Iesus, with eternall glorie.
