¹⁶ After this I will returne, and will builde againe the tabernacle of Dauid, which is fallen downe, and the ruines thereof will I build againe, and I will set it vp,

¹¹ And since the time that I set Iudges ouer my people of Israel) and I will giue thee rest from al thine enemies: also the Lord telleth thee, that he will make thee an house. ¹² And when thy daies bee fulfilled, thou shalt sleepe with thy fathers, and I wil set vp thy seede after thee, which shall proceede out of thy body, and will stablish his kingdome. ¹³ He shall buyld an house for my Name, and I will stablish ye throne of his kingdome for euer. ¹⁴ I will be his father, and hee shall bee my sonne: and if he sinne, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the plagues of the children of men. ¹⁵ But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I tooke it from Saul whome I haue put away before thee. ¹⁶ And thine house shall be stablished and thy kingdome for euer before thee, euen thy throne shalbe stablished for euer.

¹⁶ So when all Israel sawe that the King regarded them not, the people answered the King thus, saying, What portion haue we in Dauid? we haue none inheritance in the sonne of Ishai. To your tents, O Israel: nowe see to thine owne house, Dauid. So Israel departed vnto their tents.

³⁵ I haue sworne once by mine holines, that I will not fayle Dauid, saying, ³⁶ His seede shall endure for euer, and his throne shalbe as the sunne before me. ³⁷ He shalbe established for euermore as the moone, and as a faythfull witnes in the heauen. Selah. ³⁸ But thou hast reiected and abhorred, thou hast bene angry with thine Anoynted. ³⁹ Thou hast broken the couenant of thy seruant, and profaned his crowne, casting it on the ground. ⁴⁰ Thou hast broken downe all his walles: thou hast layd his fortresses in ruine. ⁴¹ All that goe by the way, spoyle him: he is a rebuke vnto his neighbours. ⁴² Thou hast set vp the right hand of his enemies, and made all his aduersaries to reioyce. ⁴³ Thou hast also turned the edge of his sworde, and hast not made him to stand in the battell. ⁴⁴ Thou hast caused his dignitie to decay, and cast his throne to the ground. ⁴⁵ The dayes of his youth hast thou shortned, and couered him with shame. Selah. ⁴⁶ Lord, howe long wilt thou hide thy selfe, for euer? shall thy wrath burne like fire? ⁴⁷ Remember of what time I am: wherefore shouldest thou create in vaine all the children of men? ⁴⁸ What man liueth, and shall not see death? shall hee deliuer his soule from the hande of the graue? Selah. ⁴⁹ Lord, where are thy former mercies, which thou swarest vnto Dauid in thy trueth?

⁶ For vnto vs a childe is borne, and vnto vs a Sonne is giuen: and the gouernement is vpon his shoulder, and he shall call his name Wonderfull, Counseller, The mightie God, The euerlasting Father, The prince of peace, ⁷ The increase of his gouernement and peace shall haue none end: he shall sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and vpon his kingdome, to order it, and to stablish it with iudgement and with iustice, from hencefoorth, euen for euer: the zeale of the Lord of hostes will performe this.

¹⁵ And after that I haue plucked them out, I will returne, and haue compassion on them, and will bring againe euery man to his heritage, and euery man to his land.

²⁴ Considerest thou not what this people haue spoken, saying, The two families, which the Lord hath chosen, hee hath euen cast them off? thus they haue despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. ²⁵ Thus sayth the Lord, If my couenant be not with day and night, and if I haue not appointed the order of heauen and earth, ²⁶ Then will I cast away the seede of Iaakob and Dauid my seruant, and not take of his seede to be rulers ouer the seede of Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob: for I wil cause their captiuitie to returne, and haue compassion on them.

²² Thus saith the Lord God, I wil also take off the top of this hie cedar, and wil set it, and cut off the top of the tender plant thereof, and I wil plant it vpon an hie mountaine and great. ²³ Euen in the hie mountaine of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughes and beare fruite, and be an excellent cedar, and vnder it shall remaine all birds, and euery foule shall dwell in the shadow of the branches thereof. ²⁴ And all the trees of the fielde shall knowe that I the Lord haue brought downe the hie tree, and exalted the lowe tree, that I haue dried vp the greene tree, and made the drie tree to florish: I the Lord haue spoken it, and haue done it.

¹¹ In that day will I raise vp the tabernacle of Dauid, that is fallen downe, and close vp the breaches therof, and I will rayse vp his ruines, and I will builde it, as in the dayes of olde, ¹² That they may possesse the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, because my Name is called vpon them, sayeth the Lord, that doeth this.

⁸ And in all the land, sayeth the Lord, two partes therein shall be cut off, and die: but the third shall be left therein.

²⁰ But whiles he thought these things, behold, the Angel of the Lord appeared vnto him in a dreame, saying, Ioseph, the sonne of Dauid, feare not to take Mary thy wife: for that which is conceiued in her, is of the holy Ghost. ²¹ And she shall bring foorth a sonne, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for hee shall saue his people from their sinnes. ²² And al this was done that it might be fulfilled, which is spoken of the Lord by ye Prophet, saying, ²³ Behold, a virgine shalbe with childe, and shall beare a sonne, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is by interpretation, God with vs. ²⁴ Then Ioseph, being raised from sleepe, did as the Angel of the Lord had inioyned him, and tooke his wife. ²⁵ But he knew her not, til she had broght forth her first borne sonne, and he called his name JESUS.

³¹ For loe, thou shalt conceiue in thy wobe, and beare a sonne, and shalt call his name Iesus. ³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Sonne of the most High, and the Lord God shall giue vnto him the throne of his father Dauid. ³³ And hee shall reigne ouer the house of Iacob for euer, and of his kingdome shall bee none ende.

⁶⁹ And hath raised vp the horne of saluation vnto vs, in the house of his seruant Dauid, ⁷⁰ As he spake by ye mouth of his holy Prophets, which were since the world began, saying,
