¹ The Elder vnto the beloued Gaius, whom I loue in the trueth. ² Beloued, I wish chiefly that thou prosperedst and faredst well as thy soule prospereth. ³ For I reioyced greatly when the brethren came, and testified of the trueth that is in thee, how thou walkest in the trueth. ⁴ I haue no greater ioy then these, that is, to heare that my sonnes walke in veritie. ⁵ Beloued, thou doest faithfully, whatsoeuer thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers, ⁶ Which bare witnesse of thy loue before the Churches. Whom if thou bringest on their iourney as it beseemeth according to God, thou shalt doe well, ⁷ Because that for his Names sake they went forth, and tooke nothing of the Gentiles. ⁸ We therefore ought to receiue such, that we might be helpers to the trueth. ⁹ I wrote vnto the Church: but Diotrephes which loueth to haue the preeminence among them, receiueth vs not. ¹⁰ Wherefore if I come, I will call to your remembrance his deedes which he doeth, pratling against vs with malicious wordes, and not therewith content, neither he himselfe receiueth the brethren, but forbiddeth them that woulde, and thrusteth them out of the Church. ¹¹ Beloued, follow not that which is euill, but that which is good: he that doeth well, is of God: but he that doeth euill, hath not seene God. ¹² Demetrius hath good report of al men, and of the trueth it selfe: yea, and wee our selues beare recorde, and ye know that our record is true. ¹³ I haue many things to write: but I will not with yncke and pen write vnto thee: ¹⁴ For I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speake mouth to mouth. ⁷ If thou do well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sinne lieth at the doore: also vnto thee his desire shalbe subiect, and thou shalt rule ouer him.

²³ And he said, Peace be vnto you, feare not: your God and the God of your father hath giuen you that treasure in your sackes, I had your money: and he brought forth Simeon to them.

² Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do euil, neither agree in a controuersie to decline after many and ouerthrowe the trueth.

⁴ That the Lord may confirme his worde which hee spake vnto me, saying, If thy sonnes take heede to their way, that they walke before me in trueth, with all their hearts, and with all their soules, thou shalt not (sayd he) want one of thy posteritie vpon the throne of Israel.

⁶ And Salomon sayd, Thou hast shewed vnto thy seruant Dauid my father great mercie, when hee walked before thee in trueth, and in righteousnesse, and in vprightnes of heart with thee: and thou hast kept for him this great mercie, and hast giuen him a sonne, to sit on his throne, as appeareth this day.

¹⁵ And hee turned againe to the man of God, hee, and all his companie, and came and stood before him, and sayd, Behold, now I knowe that there is no God in all the world, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a reward of thy seruant. ¹⁶ But hee sayde, As the Lord liueth (before whom I stand) I wil not receiue it. And he would haue constrained him to receiue it, but he refused.

²⁰ And Gehazi the seruant of Elisha the man of God sayde, Beholde, my master hath spared this Aramite Naaman, receiuing not those things at his hand that he brought: as the Lord liueth, I will runne after him, and take somewhat of him. ²¹ So Gehazi followed speedily after Naaman. And when Naaman sawe him running after him, he light downe from the charet to meete him, and said, Is all well? ²² And he answered, All is well: my master hath set me, saying, Behold, there be come to me, euen nowe from mount Ephraim two yong men of the children of the Prophets: giue them, I pray thee, a talent of siluer, and two change of garmets. ²³ And Naaman saide, Yea, take two talents: and he compelled him, and bound two talents of siluer in two bagges, with two change of garments, and gaue them vnto two of his seruants, that they might beare them before him. ²⁴ And when he came to the towre, he tooke them out of their handes, and laide them in the house, and sent away the men: and they departed. ²⁵ Then he went in, and stoode before his master. And Elisha said vnto him, Whence commest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy seruant went no whither. ²⁶ But he saide vnto him, Went not mine heart with thee when the man turned againe from his charet to meete thee? Is this a time to take money, and to receiue garments, and oliues, and vineyardes, and sheepe, and oxen, and men seruants, and maide seruants? ²⁷ The leprosie therefore of Naaman shall cleaue vnto thee, and to thy seede for euer. And he went out from his presence a leper white as snowe.

³ I beseech thee, O Lord, remember nowe, howe I haue walked before thee in trueth and with a perfite heart, and haue done that which is good in thy sight: and Hezekiah wept sore.

¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid. The Lord heare thee in the day of trouble: the name of ye God of Iaakob defend thee: ² Send thee helpe from the Sanctuarie, and strengthen thee out of Zion. ³ Let him remember all thine offerings, and turne thy burnt offerings into asshes. Selah: ⁴ And graunt thee according to thine heart, and fulfill all thy purpose: ⁵ That we may reioyce in thy saluation, and set vp the banner in the Name of our God, when the Lord shall performe all thy petitions.

¹ A Psalme of David. Judge me, O Lord, for I haue walked in mine innocency: my trust hath bene also in the Lord: therefore shall I not slide. ² Proue me, O Lord, and trie mee: examine my reines, and mine heart. ³ For thy louing kindnesse is before mine eyes: therefore haue I walked in thy trueth.

²⁴ The father of the righteous shall greatly reioyce, and hee that begetteth a wise childe, shall haue ioy of him.

¹⁶ Wash you, make you cleane: take away the euill of your workes from before mine eyes: cease to doe euill. ¹⁷ Learne to doe well: seeke iudgement, relieue the oppressed: iudge the fatherlesse and defend the widowe.

¹⁸ Beholde, I and the children whome the Lord hath giuen me, are as signes and as wonders in Israel, by the Lord of hostes, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

⁵ Heare the worde of the Lord, all ye that tremble at his worde, Your brethren that hated you, and cast you out for my Names sake, said, Let the Lord be glorified: but he shall appeare to your ioy, and they shall be ashamed.

¹ I Nebuchad-nezzar being at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace,

⁴ Then saide the Lord, Doest thou well to be angry?

¹⁴ And whosoeuer shall not receiue you, nor heare your woordes, when yee depart out of that house, or that citie, shake off the dust of your feete.

⁴⁰ He that receiueth you, receiueth me: and hee that receiueth mee, receiueth him that hath sent me.

Are ye able to drinke of the cup that I shall drinke of, and to be baptized with the baptisme that I shalbe baptized with? They said to him, We are able. ²³ And he said vnto them, Ye shall drinke in deede of my cup, and shall be baptized with the baptisme, that I am baptized with, but to sit at my right hande, and at my left hand, is not mine to giue: but it shalbe giuen to them for whome it is prepared of my Father. ²⁴ And when the other ten heard this, they disdained at the two brethren. ²⁵ Therefore Iesus called them vnto him, and saide, We knowe that the lordes of the Gentiles haue domination ouer them, and they that are great, exercise authoritie ouer them. ²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: but whosoeuer will be great among you, let him be your seruant. ²⁷ And whosoeuer will be chiefe among you, let him be your seruant. ²⁸ Euen as the Sonne of man came not to be serued, but to serue, and to giue his life for the ransome of many.

⁴ For they binde heauie burdens, and grieuous to be borne, and lay them on mens shoulders, but they themselues will not moue them with one of their fingers. ⁵ All their workes they doe for to be seene of men: for they make their phylacteries broad, and make long the frindges of their garments, ⁶ And loue the chiefe place at feastes, and to haue the chiefe seates in the assemblies, ⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. ⁸ But be not ye called, Rabbi: for one is your doctour, to wit, Christ, and all ye are brethren.

⁴⁵ Who then is a faithfull seruaunt and wise, whom his master hath made ruler ouer his household, to giue them meate in season?

²¹ Then his master saide vnto him, It is well done good seruant and faithfull, Thou hast bene faithfull in litle, I will make thee ruler ouer much: enter into thy masters ioy. ²² Also he that had receiued two talents, came, and said, Master, thou deliueredst vnto me two talents: behold, I haue gained two other talets more. ²³ His master saide vnto him, It is well done good seruant, and faithfull, Thou hast bene faithfull in litle, I will make thee ruler ouer much: enter into thy masters ioy.

³⁴ And they helde their peace: for by the way they reasoned among themselues, who should bee the chiefest.

³⁷ Whosoeuer shall receiue one of such litle children in my Name, receiueth me: and whosoeuer receiueth mee, receiueth not me, but him that sent me.

²² Blessed are ye when men hate you, and when they separate you, and reuile you, and put out your name as euill, for the Sonne of mans sake.

⁴⁸ And said vnto them, Whosoeuer receiueth this litle childe in my Name, receiueth me: and whosoeuer shall receiue me, receiueth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, he shall be great.

⁷ And hee within shoulde answere, and say, Trouble mee not: the doore is nowe shut, and my children are with mee in bed: I can not rise and giue them to thee.

⁴² And the Lord saide, Who is a faithfull steward and wise, whom the master shall make ruler ouer his householde, to giue them their portion of meate in season?

¹⁰ He that is faithfull in the least, hee is also faithful in much: and he that is vniust in the least, is vniust also in much. ¹¹ If then ye haue not ben faithful in the wicked riches, who wil trust you in the true treasure? ¹² And if ye haue not bene faithfull in another mans goods, who shall giue you that which is yours?

²⁴ And there arose also a strife among them, which of them should seeme to be ye greatest. ²⁵ But hee saide vnto them, The Kings of the Gentiles reigne ouer them, and they that beare rule ouer them, are called bountifull. ²⁶ But yee shall not be so: but let the greatest among you be as the least: and the chiefest as he that serueth. ²⁷ For who is greater, he that sitteth at table, or he that serueth? Is not he that sitteth at table? And I am among you as he that serueth.

²⁰ For euery man that euill doeth, hateth the light, neither commeth to light, least his deedes should be reprooued.

²² These wordes spake his parents, because they feared the Iewes: for the Iewes had ordeined already, that if any man did confesse that he was Christ, he should be excommunicate out of the Synagogue.

³⁴ They answered, and sayd vnto him, Thou art altogether borne in sinnes, and doest thou teach vs? so they cast him out. ³⁵ Iesus heard that they had cast him out: and when he had found him, he sayd vnto him, Doest thou beleeue in the Sonne of God?

³ To him the porter openeth, and the sheepe heare his voyce, and he calleth his owne sheepe by name, and leadeth them out.

²⁷ My sheepe heare my voyce, and I knowe them, and they follow me,

²⁶ If any man serue me, let him follow me: for where I am, there shall also my seruant be: and if any man serue me, him will my Father honour.

³⁵ Then Iesus sayd vnto them, Yet a litle while is the light with you: walke while ye haue that light, lest the darkenes come vpon you: for hee that walketh in the darke, knoweth not whither he goeth. ³⁶ While ye haue that light, beleeue in that light, that ye may be the children of the light. These things spake Iesus, and departed, and hid himselfe from them.

³⁵ And he that sawe it, bare recorde, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might beleeue it.

²⁴ This is that disciple, which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things, and we know that his testimonie is true.

⁴¹ So they departed from the Councill, reioycing, that they were counted worthy to suffer rebuke for his Name.

⁴ Therefore they that were scattered abroad, went to and from preaching the worde.

¹⁶ For I will shewe him, howe many things he must suffer for my Names sake.

²² And they sayd, Cornelius the captaine, a iust man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Iewes, was warned from heauen by an holy Angel, to send for thee into his house, and to heare thy wordes.

³ Thus being brought forth by ye Church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conuersion of the Gentiles, and they brought great ioy vnto all the brethren.

²⁹ That is, that ye abstaine from things offered to idoles, and blood, and that that is strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keepe your selues, ye shall doe well. Fare ye well.

²⁹ And the whole citie was full of confusion, and they rushed into the common place with one assent, and caught Gaius, and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, and Pauls companions of his iourney.

⁴ And there accompanied him into Asia, Sopater of Berea, and of them of Thessalonica, Aristarchus, and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus, and of them of Asia, Tychicus, and Trophimus.

⁵ But when the dayes were ended, we departed and went our way, and they all accompanied vs with their wiues and children, euen out of the citie: and we kneeling downe on the shore, prayed.

¹² And one Ananias a godly man, as perteining to the Lawe, hauing good report of all the Iewes which dwelt there,

⁸ First I thanke my God through Iesus Christ for you all, because your faith is published throughout the whole world. ⁹ For God is my witnesse (whom I serue in my spirit in the Gospel of his Sonne) that without ceasing I make mention of you

¹⁰ Be affectioned to loue one another with brotherly loue. In giuing honour, goe one before another,

²⁴ When I shall take my iourney into Spaine, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my iourney, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, after that I haue bene somewhat filled with your company.

²³ Gains mine hoste, and of the whole Church saluteth you. Erastus the steward of the citie saluteth you, and Quartus a brother.

¹⁴ I thanke God, that I baptized none of you, but Crispus, and Gaius,

⁵ Who is Paul then? and who is Apollos, but the ministers by whome yee beleeued, and as the Lord gaue to euery man? ⁶ I haue planted, Apollos watred, but God gaue the increase. ⁷ So then, neither is hee that planteth any thing, neither hee that watreth, but God that giueth the increase. ⁸ And he that planteth, and he that watreth, are one, and euery man shall receiue his wages, according to his labour. ⁹ For we together are Gods labourers: yee are Gods husbandrie, and Gods building.

¹⁴ I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloued children I admonish you. ¹⁵ For though ye haue tenne thousand instructours in Christ, yet haue ye not many fathers: for in Christ Iesus I haue begotten you through the Gospel. ¹⁶ Wherefore, I pray you, be ye folowers of me.

¹ It is heard certainely that there is fornication among you: and such fornication as is not once named among the Gentiles, that one should haue his fathers wife. ² And ye are puffed vp and haue not rather sorowed, that he which hath done this deede, might be put from among you. ³ For I verely as absent in bodie, but present in spirit, haue determined already as though I were present, that he that hath thus done this thing, ⁴ When ye are gathered together, and my spirit, in the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ, that such one, I say, by the power of our Lord Iesus Christ, ⁵ Be deliuered vnto Satan, for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saued in the day of the Lord Iesus.

¹² If others with you bee partakers of this power, are not we rather? neuerthelesse, we haue not vsed this power: but suffer all things, that we should not hinder the Gospel of Christ. ¹³ Doe ye not knowe, that they which minister about the holy things, eate of the things of the Temple? and they which waite at the altar, are partakers with the altar? ¹⁴ So also hath the Lord ordeined, that they which preach ye Gospel, should liue of the Gospel. ¹⁵ But I haue vsed none of these things: neither wrote I these things, that it should be so done vnto me: for it were better for me to die, then that any man should make my reioycing vaine.

¹⁸ What is my reward then? verely that when I preach the Gospel, I make the Gospel of Christ free, that I abuse not mine authoritie in ye Gospel.

¹ Be yee followers of mee, euen as I am of Christ.

¹⁰ Nowe if Timotheus come, see that he be without feare with you: for he worketh the worke of the Lord, euen as I doe. ¹¹ Let no man therefore despise him: but conuey him foorth in peace, that he may come vnto me: for I looke for him with the brethren.

¹⁶ And to passe by you into Macedonia, and to come againe out of Macedonia vnto you, and to be led foorth towarde Iudea of you.

¹ Therefore, seeing that we haue this ministerie, as we haue receiued mercy, we faint not: ² But haue cast from vs ye clokes of shame, and walke not in craftines, neither handle we the worde of God deceitfully: but in declaration of the trueth we approue our selues to euery mans conscience in the sight of God. ³ If our Gospell bee then hid, it is hid to them that are lost.

⁵ For we preach not our selues, but Christ Iesus the Lord, and our selues your seruaunts for Iesus sake.

¹ So we therefore as workers together beseech you, that ye receiue not the grace of God in vaine.

² Receiue vs: we haue done wrong to no man: we haue corrupted no man: we haue defrauded no man. ³ I speake it not to your condemnation: for I haue said before, that ye are in our hearts, to die and liue together.

⁶ But God, that comforteth the abiect, comforted vs at the comming of Titus: ⁷ And not by his comming onely, but also by the consolation wherewith he was comforted of you, when he tolde vs your great desire, your mourning, your feruent minde to me warde, so that I reioyced much more.

²³ Whether any doe inquire of Titus, he is my fellowe and helper to you ward: or of our brethren, they are messengers of the Churches, and the glorie of Christ.

¹ Nowe I Paul my selfe beseech you by the meekenes, and gentlenes of Christ, which when I am present among you am base, but am bolde toward you being absent: ² And this I require you, that I neede not to be bolde when I am present, with that same confidence, wherewith I thinke to bee bolde against some, which esteeme vs as though wee walked according to the flesh. ³ Neuerthelesse, though wee walke in the flesh, yet we doe not warre after the flesh. ⁴ (For the weapons of our warrefare are not carnall, but mightie through God, to cast downe holdes) ⁵ Casting downe the imaginations, and euery high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ, ⁶ And hauing ready the vengeance against all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. ⁷ Looke yee on things after the appearance? If any man trust in himselfe that hee is Christes, let him consider this againe of himself, that as he is Christes, euen so are we Christes. ⁸ For though I shoulde boast somewhat more of our authoritie, which the Lord hath giuen vs for edification, and not for your destruction, I should haue no shame. ⁹ This I say, that I may not seeme as it were to feare you with letters. ¹⁰ For the letters, sayeth hee, are sore and strong, but his bodily presence is weake, and his speache is of no value. ¹¹ Let such one thinke this, that such as wee are in woorde by letters, when we are absent, such wil we be also in deede, when we are present.

⁷ Haue I committed an offence, because I abased my selfe, that ye might be exalted, and because I preached to you ye Gospell of God freely? ⁸ I robbed other Churches, and tooke wages of them to doe you seruice. ⁹ And when I was present with you, and had neede, I was not slouthfull to the hinderance of any man: for that which was lacking vnto me, the brethre which came from Macedonia, supplied, and in all thinges I kept and will keepe my selfe, that I should not be grieuous to you.

¹³ For what is it, wherein yee were inferiours vnto other Churches, except that I haue not bene slouthfull to your hinderance? forgiue me this wrong.

² I tolde you before, and tell you before: as though I had bene present the seconde time, so write I nowe being absent to them which heretofore haue sinned and to all others, that if I come againe, I will not spare,

¹⁴ But when I saw, that they went not ye right way to the trueth of ye Gospel, I sayd vnto Peter before all men, If thou being a Iewe, liuest as the Gentiles, and not like the Iewes, why constrainest thou the Gentiles to doe like the Iewes?

¹⁹ My litle children, of whome I trauaile in birth againe, vntill Christ be formed in you.

¹⁶ Then I say, Walke in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lustes of the flesh.

¹⁰ While we haue therefore time, let vs doe good vnto all men, but specially vnto them, which are of the housholde of faith.

¹⁵ Therefore also after that I heard of the faith, which ye haue in the Lord Iesus, and loue toward all the Saints, ¹⁶ I cease not to giue thankes for you, making mention of you in my prayers,

¹ Bee yee therefore followers of God, as deare children,

²³ Peace be with the brethren, and loue with faith from God the Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ.

³ That nothing be done through contention or vaine glory, but that in meekenesse of minde euery man esteeme other better then himselfe. ⁴ Looke not euery man on his owne things, but euery man also on the things of other men.

⁴ Looke not euery man on his owne things, but euery man also on the things of other men. ⁵ Let the same minde be in you that was euen in Christ Iesus,

³ According as his diuine power hath giuen vnto vs all things that perteine vnto life and godlinesse, through the acknowledging of him that hath called vs vnto glory and vertue. ⁴ Whereby most great and precious promises are giuen vnto vs, that by them ye should be partakers of the diuine nature, in that ye flee the corruption, which is in the worlde through lust. ⁵ Therefore giue euen all diligence thereunto: ioyne moreouer vertue with your faith: and with vertue, knowledge: ⁶ And with knowledge, temperance: and with temperance, patience: and with patience, godlines: ⁷ And with godlines, brotherly kindnes: and with brotherly kindnes, loue. ⁸ For if these things be among you, and abound, they will make you that ye neither shalbe idle, nor vnfruitfull in the acknowledging of our Lord Iesus Christ: ⁹ For he that hath not these things, is blinde, and can not see farre off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his olde sinnes.

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Sauiour Iesus Christ: to him be glory both now and for euermore. Amen.
