¹⁴ I will be his father, and hee shall bee my sonne: and if he sinne, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the plagues of the children of men.

⁵ Knowe therefore in thine heart, that as a man nourtereth his sonne, so the Lord thy God nourtereth thee.

¹³ I wil be his father, and he shalbe my sonne, aud I will not take my mercie away from him, as I tooke it from him that was before thee.

¹² Blessed is the man, whom thou chastisest, O Lord, and teachest him in thy Lawe, ¹³ That thou mayest giue him rest from the dayes of euill, whiles the pitte is digged for the wicked.

¹¹ My sonne, refuse not the chastening of the Lord, neither be grieued with his correction. ¹² For the Lord correcteth him, whome he loueth, euen as the father doeth the childe in whom he deliteth.

¹¹ For I am with thee, sayth the Lord, to saue thee: though I vtterly destroy all the nations where I haue scattered thee, yet will I not vtterly destroy thee, but I will correct thee by iudgement, and not vtterly cut thee off.

¹⁷ And loe, a voyce came from heauen, saying, This is my beloued Sonne, in whome I am well pleased.

³² But when we are iudged, we are chastened of the Lord, because we should not be condemned with the world.

⁵ For vnto which of the Angels saide he at any time, Thou art my Sonne, this day begate I thee? and againe, I will be his Father, and he shalbe my Sonne?

⁵ And ye haue forgotten the consolation, which speaketh vnto you as vnto children, My sonne, despise not the chastening of the Lord, neither faint when thou art rebuked of him. ⁶ For whom the Lord loueth, he chasteneth: and he scourgeth euery sonne that he receiueth: ⁷ If ye endure chastening, God offereth him selfe vnto you as vnto sonnes: for what sonne is it whom the father chasteneth not? ⁸ If therefore ye be without correction, whereof al are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sonnes. ⁹ Moreouer we haue had the fathers of our bodies which corrected vs, and we gaue them reuerence: should we not much rather be in subiection vnto the father of spirites, that we might liue? ¹⁰ For they verely for a few dayes chastened vs after their owne pleasure: but he chasteneth vs for our profite, that we might be partakers of his holinesse. ¹¹ Now no chastising for the present seemeth to be ioyous, but, grieuous: but afterwarde, it bringeth the quiet fruite of righteousnesse, vnto them which are thereby exercised.

¹⁹ As many as I loue, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore and amend.
