²⁸ Thus thou wilt saue the poore people: but thine eyes are vpon the hautie to humble them.

⁷ Then the Lord said, I haue surely seene the trouble of my people, which are in Egypt, and haue heard their crie, because of their taskemasters: for I knowe their sorowes. ⁸ Therefore I am come downe to deliuer them out of the hande of the Egyptians, and to bring them out of that lande into a good lande and a large, into a lande that floweth with milke and honie, euen into the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hiuites, and the Iebusites.

¹⁴ For I will at this time send all my plagues vpon thine heart, and vpon thy seruants, and vpon thy people, that thou mayest knowe that there is none like me in all the earth. ¹⁵ For nowe I will stretch out mine hande, that I may smite thee and thy people with the pestilence: and thou shalt perish from the earth. ¹⁶ And in deede, for this cause haue I appointed thee, to shewe my power in thee, and to declare my Name throughout all the world. ¹⁷ Yet thou exaltest thy selfe against my people, and lettest them not goe.

³ Then came Moses and Aaron vnto Pharaoh, and they said vnto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Ebrewes, Howe long wilt thou refuse to humble thy selfe before me? Let my people goe, that they may serue me.

¹¹ Now I know that the Lord is greater then all the gods: for as they haue dealt proudly with them, so are they recompensed.

¹¹ Behold now, his strength is in his loynes, and his force is in the nauil of his belly. ¹² When hee taketh pleasure, his taile is like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapt together.

⁵ Now for the oppression of the needy, and for the sighes of the poore, I will vp, sayeth the Lord, and will set at libertie him, whom the wicked hath snared.

¹² For he shall deliuer the poore when he cryeth: the needie also, and him that hath no helper. ¹³ He shalbe mercifull to the poore and needie, and shall preserue the soules of the poore.

⁶ For the Lord is high: yet he beholdeth the lowly, but the proude he knoweth afarre off.

⁴ A hautie looke, and a proude heart, which is the light of the wicked, is sinne.

¹¹ The hie looke of man shall be humbled, and the loftinesse of men shalbe abased, and the Lord onely shall be exalted in that day. ¹² For the day of the Lord of hostes is vpon all the proude and hautie, and vpon all that is exalted: and it shalbe made lowe.

¹⁷ And the hautinesse of men shalbe brought low, and the loftinesse of men shalbe abased, and the Lord shall onely be exalted in that day.

²³ Whome hast thou railed on and blasphemed? and against whome hast thou exalted thy voyce, and lifted vp thine eyes on hie? euen against the holy one of Israel.

²⁸ But I know thy dwelling, and thy going out, and thy comming in, and thy fury against me. ²⁹ Because thou ragest against me, and thy tumult is come vnto mine eares, therefore will I put mine hooke in thy nostrels, and my bridle in thy lips, and wil bring thee backe againe the same way thou camest.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord God is vpon mee, therefore hath the Lord anoynted mee: hee hath sent mee to preache good tidings vnto the poore, to binde vp the broken hearted, to preach libertie to the captiues, and to them that are bound, the opening of the prison, ² To preache the acceptable yeere of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all that mourne, ³ To appoint vnto them that mourne in Zion, and to giue vnto them beautie for ashes, the oyle of ioye for mourning, the garment of gladnesse for the spirit of heauinesse, that they might be called trees of righteousnesse, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

⁹ In all their troubles he was troubled, and the Angel of his presence saued them: in his loue and in his mercie he redeemed them, and he bare them and caried them alwayes continually.

³ Blessed are the poore in spirit, for theirs is the kingdome of heauen.

⁶ But the Scripture offereth more grace, and therefore sayth, God resisteth the proude, and giueth grace to the humble. ⁷ Submit your selues to God: resist the deuill, and he will flee from you.

⁵ Likewise ye yonger, submit your selues vnto the elders, and submit your selues euery man, one to another: decke your selues inwardly in lowlinesse of minde: for God resisteth the proude, and giueth grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble your selues therefore vnder the mightie hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
