⁹ Nowe when they were passed ouer, Eliiah saide vnto Elisha, Aske what I shall doe for thee before I be taken from thee. And Elisha saide, I pray thee, let thy Spirit be double vpon me.

¹⁷ And I will come downe, and talke with thee there, and take of the Spirite, which is vpon thee, and put vpon them, and they shall beare the burthen of the people with thee: so thou shalt not beare it alone.

²⁵ Then the Lord came downe in a cloude, and spake vnto him, and tooke of the Spirit that was vpon him, and put it vpon the seuentie Ancient men: and when the Spirit rested vpon them, then they prophecied, and did not cease.

¹⁶ Let the Lord God of the spirits of all flesh appoint a man ouer the Congregation, ¹⁷ Who may goe out and in before them, and leade them out and in, that the Congregation of the Lord be not as sheepe, which haue not a shepheard. ¹⁸ And the Lord said vnto Moses, Take thee Ioshua the sonne of Nun, in whom is the Spirite, and put thine handes vpon him, ¹⁹ And set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation, and giue him a charge in their sight. ²⁰ And giue him of thy glory, that all the Congregation of ye children of Israel may obey. ²¹ And he shall stande before Eleazar the Priest, who shall aske counsell for him by the iudgement of Vrim before the Lord: at his worde they shall goe out, and at his worde they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him and all the Congregation. ²² So Moses did as the Lord had commanded him, and he tooke Ioshua, and set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation. ²³ Then he put his handes vpon him, and gaue him a charge, as the Lord had spoken by the hand of Moses.

¹⁷ But he shall acknowledge the sonne of the hated for the first borne, and giue him double portion of all that he hath: for hee is the first of his strength, and to him belongeth the right of the first borne.

⁹ And Ioshua the sonne of Nun was full of ye spirit of wisedome: for Moses had put his hands vpon him. And the children of Israel were obedient vnto him, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.

⁹ Giue therefore vnto thy seruant an vnderstanding heart, to iudge thy people, that I may discerne betweene good and bad: for who is able to iudge this thy mightie people?

¹⁴ When Elisha fell sicke of his sickenesse whereof he dyed, Ioash the King of Israel came downe vnto him, and wept vpon his face, and sayd, O my father, my father, the charet of Israel, and the horsemen of the same. ¹⁵ Then Elisha sayde vnto him, Take a bowe and arrowes. And he tooke vnto him bowe and arrowes. ¹⁶ And he sayde to the King of Israel, Put thine hand vpon the bowe. And he put his hand vpon it. And Elisha put his hands vpon the Kings hands, ¹⁷ And saide, Open the windowe Eastward. And when he had opened it, Elisha said, Shoote. And he shot. And he sayd, Beholde the arrowe of the Lordes deliuerance and the arrowe of deliuerance against Aram: for thou shalt smite the Aramites in Aphek, till thou hast consumed them. ¹⁸ Againe he said, Take the arrowes. And he tooke them. And he sayde vnto the King of Israel, Smite the ground. And he smote thrise, and ceased. ¹⁹ Then the man of God was angry with him, and sayde, Thou shouldest haue smitten fiue or sixe times, so thou shouldest haue smitten Aram, till thou haddest consumed it, where nowe thou shalt smite Aram but thrise.

¹⁸ O Lord God of Abraham, Izhak and Israel our fathers, keepe this for euer in the purpose, and the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their hearts vnto thee. ¹⁹ And giue vnto Salomon my sonne a perfit heart to keepe thy commandements, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to doe all things, and to builde the house which I haue prepared.

⁹ Nowe therefore, O Lord God, let thy promise vnto Dauid my father be true: for thou hast made mee King ouer a great people, like to the dust of the earth. ¹⁰ Giue me now wisdome and knowledge, that I may go out and go in before this people: for who can iudge this thy great people?

¹² Turne you to the strong holde, ye prisoners of hope: euen to day doe I declare, that I will render the double vnto thee.

⁸ In that day shall the Lord defende the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and he that is feeble among them, in that day shall be as Dauid: and the house of Dauid shall be as Gods house, and as the Angel of the Lord before them.

⁴⁵ Then opened he their vnderstanding, that they might vnderstand the Scriptures, ⁴⁶ And said vnto them, Thus is it written, and thus it behoued Christ to suffer, and to rise againe from the dead the third day, ⁴⁷ And that repentance, and remission of sinnes should be preached in his Name among all nations, beginning at Hierusalem. ⁴⁸ Nowe ye are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And beholde, I doe sende the promise of my Father vpon you: but tary ye in the citie of Hierusalem, vntill ye be endued with power from an hie. ⁵⁰ Afterward he lead them out into Bethania, and lift vp his hands, and blessed them. ⁵¹ And it came to passe, that as he blessed them, he departed from them, and was caried vp into heauen.

¹² Verely, verely I say vnto you, he that beleeueth in me, the workes that I doe, hee shall doe also, and greater then these shall he doe: for I goe vnto my Father. ¹³ And whatsoeuer ye aske in my Name, that will I doe, that the Father may be glorified in the Sonne. ¹⁴ If ye shall aske any thing in my Name, I will doe it.

⁷ Yet I tell you the trueth, It is expedient for you that I goe away: for if I goe not away, that Comforter will not come vnto you: but if I depart, I will send him vnto you.

⁹ I pray for them: I pray not for the worlde, but for them which thou hast giuen me: for they are thine. ¹⁰ And al mine are thine, and thine are mine, and I am glorified in them. ¹¹ And nowe am I no more in the world, but these are in the worlde, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keepe them in thy Name, euen them whome thou hast giuen mee, that they may bee one, as we are. ¹² While I was with them in the worlde, I kept them in thy Name: those that thou gauest me, haue I kept, and none of them is lost, but the childe of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. ¹³ And now come I to thee, and these things speake I in the worlde, that they might haue my ioy fulfilled in themselues.

⁸ But yee shall receiue power of the holy Ghost, when he shall come on you: and ye shalbe witnesses vnto me both in Hierusalem and in all Iudea, and in Samaria, and vnto the vttermost part of the earth.

¹⁷ Then layd they their handes on them, and they receiued the holy Ghost.

²⁵ And now behold, I know that henceforth ye all, through whome I haue gone preaching the kingdome of God, shall see my face no more. ²⁶ Wherefore I take you to recorde this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. ²⁷ For I haue kept nothing backe, but haue shewed you all the counsell of God. ²⁸ Take heede therefore vnto your selues, and to all the flocke, whereof the holy Ghost hath made you Ouerseers, to feede the Church of God, which hee hath purchased with that his owne blood. ²⁹ For I knowe this, that after my departing shall grieuous wolues enter in among you, not sparing the flocke. ³⁰ Moreouer of your owne selues shall men arise speaking peruerse thinges, to drawe disciples after them. ³¹ Therefore watche, and remember, that by the space of three yeres I ceased not to warne euery one, both night and day with teares. ³² And nowe brethren, I commend you to God, and to the worde of his grace, which is able to build further, and to giue you an inheritance, among all them, which are sanctified. ³³ I haue coueted no mans siluer, nor gold, nor apparell. ³⁴ Yea, ye knowe, that these handes haue ministred vnto my necessities, and to them that were with me. ³⁵ I haue shewed you all things, howe that so labouring, ye ought to support the weake, and to remember the wordes of the Lord Iesus, howe that hee saide, It is a blessed thing to giue, rather then to receiue. ³⁶ And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled downe, and prayed with them all.

³¹ But desire you the best giftes, and I will yet shewe you a more excellent way.

¹⁷ The Elders that rule well, let them be had in double honour, specially they which labour in the worde and doctrine,
