¹⁵ But sanctifie the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready alwayes to giue an answere to euery man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekenesse and reuerence,

¹² Againe the Lord spake vnto Moses, and to Aaron, Because ye beleeued me not, to sanctifie mee in the presence of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this Congregation into the land which I haue giuen them.

¹⁴ For ye were disobedient vnto my worde in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the assemblie, to sanctifie me in the waters before their eyes. That is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wildernesse of Zin.

⁷ Nowe therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the Lord according to all the righteousnesse of the Lord, which he shewed to you and to your fathers.

⁴⁶ I will speake also of thy testimonies before Kings, and will not be ashamed.

¹⁸ Come nowe, and let vs reason together, sayth the Lord: though your sinnes were as crimsin, they shalbe made white as snowe: though they were red like skarlet, they shalbe as wooll.

¹⁶ And the Lord of hostes shalbe exalted in iudgement, and the holy God shalbe sanctified in iustice.

²³ But when he seeth his children, the worke of mine hands, in the mids of him, they shall sanctifie my Name, and sanctifie the holy one of Iaakob, and shall feare the God of Israel.

²¹ Stand to your cause, saith the Lord: bring forth your strong reasons, saith ye King of Iaakob.

¹² Then spake Ieremiah vnto all the princes, and to al the people, saying, The Lord hath sent me to prophecie against this house and against this citie all the things that ye haue heard. ¹³ Therefore nowe amende your wayes and your workes, and heare the voyce of the Lord your God, that the Lord may repent him of the plague, that he hath pronounced against you. ¹⁴ As for me, beholde, I am in your hands: do with me as ye thinke good and right. ¹⁵ But knowe ye for certaine, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood vpon your selues, and vpon this citie, and vpon the inhabitants thereof: for of a trueth the Lord hath sent me vnto you, to speake all these words in your eares. ¹⁶ Then saide the princes and all the people vnto the Priestes, and to the prophets, This man is not worthie to die: for he hath spoken vnto vs in the Name of the Lord our God.

¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the King, O Nebuchad-nezzar, we are not carefull to answere thee in this matter. ¹⁷ Beholde, our God whom we serue, is able to deliuer vs from the hote fierie fornace, and hee will deliuer vs out of thine hand, O King. ¹⁸ But if not, bee it knowen to thee, O King, that wee will not serue thy gods, nor worship the golden image, which thou hast set vp.

¹⁴ Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no Prophet, neither was I a prophets sonne, but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of wilde figs. ¹⁵ And the Lord tooke me as I followed the flocke, and the Lord said vnto me, Go, prophecie vnto my people Israel. ¹⁶ Now therefore heare thou the word of the Lord. Thou sayest, Prophecie not against Israel, and speake nothing against the house of Izhak. ¹⁷ Therefore thus sayth the Lord, Thy wife shall be an harlot in the citie, and thy sonnes and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be deuided by line: and thou shalt die in a polluted land, and Israel shall surely go into captiuitie forth of his land.

¹⁸ And ye shall be brought to the gouernours and Kings for my sake, in witnes to them, and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliuer you vp, take no thought howe or what ye shall speake: for it shall be giuen you in that houre, what ye shall say. ²⁰ For it is not yee that speake, but the spirite of your father which speaketh in you.

¹⁴ Lay it vp therefore in your heartes, that ye cast not before hand, what ye shall answere. ¹⁵ For I will giue you a mouth and wisdome, where against all your aduersaries shall not be able to speake, nor resist.

⁸ Then Peter ful of the holy Ghost, said vnto them, Ye rulers of the people, and Elders of Israel, ⁹ For as much as we this day are examined of the good deede done to the impotent man, to wit, by what meanes he is made whole, ¹⁰ Be it knowen vnto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye haue crucified, whome God raised againe from the dead, euen by him doth this man stand here before you, whole. ¹¹ This is the stone cast aside of you builders which is become the head of the corner. ¹² Neither is there saluation in any other: for among men there is giuen none other Name vnder heauen, whereby we must be saued.

²⁹ Then Peter and the Apostles answered, and sayd, We ought rather to obey God then men. ³⁰ The God of our fathers hath raised vp Iesus, whom ye slewe, and hanged on a tree. ³¹ Him hath God lift vp with his right hand, to be a Prince and a Sauiour, to giue repentance to Israel, and forgiuenes of sinnes.

³⁹ Then Paul sayde, Doubtlesse, I am a man which am a Iewe, and citizen of Tarsus, a famous citie of Cilicia, and I beseech thee, suffer mee to speake vnto the people.

²⁵ And as he disputed of righteousnes and temperance, and of the iudgement to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time, and when I haue conuenient time, I will call for thee.

⁵ For the hopes sake, which is laide vp for you in heauen, whereof yee haue heard before by the word of trueth, which is the Gospel,

²³ If ye continue, grounded and stablished in the faith, and be not moued away from the hope of the Gospel, whereof ye haue heard, and which hath bene preached to euery creature which is vnder heauen, whereof I Paul am a minister.

²⁷ To whome God woulde make knowen what is the riches of his glorious mysterie among the Gentiles, which riches is Christ in you, the hope of glory,

⁶ Let your speach be gracious alwayes, and powdred with salt, that ye may know how to answere euery man.

²⁵ Instructing them with meekenesse that are contrary minded, prouing if God at any time will giue them repentance, that they may acknowledge the trueth, ²⁶ And come to amendment out of that snare of the deuil, of whom they are taken prisoners, to doe his will.

² Vnto the hope of eternall life, which God that cannot lie, hath promised before the world began:

⁶ But Christ is as the Sonne, ouer his owne house, whose house we are, if we holde fast that confidence and that reioycing of that hope vnto the ende.

¹ Therefore, leauing the doctrine of the beginning of Christ, let vs be led forward vnto perfection, not laying againe ye foundation of repetance from dead workes, and of faith toward God,

¹⁸ That by two immutable things, wherein it is vnpossible that God should lye, we might haue strong consolation, which haue our refuge to lay holde vpon that hope that is set before vs, ¹⁹ Which hope we haue, as an ancre of the soule, both sure and stedfast, and it entreth into that which is within the vaile,

³ Blessed bee God, euen the Father of our Lord Iesus Christ, which according to his aboundant mercie hath begotten vs againe vnto a liuely hope by the resurrection of Iesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ To an inheritance immortall and vndefiled, and that withereth not, reserued in heauen for vs,

¹⁷ And if ye call him Father, which without respect of person iudgeth according to euery mans woorke, passe the time of your dwelling here in feare,

² While they beholde your pure conuersation, which is with feare.

⁴ But let it bee the hidde man of the heart, which consisteth in the incorruption of a meeke and quiet spirite, which is before God a thing much set by.
