⁴ These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These [are] they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were purchased from among men, [to be] the firstfruits unto God and unto the Lamb.

¹⁴ She shall be led unto the king in broidered work: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

² Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old, which thou hast redeemed to be the tribe of thine inheritance; [and] mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

³ Thine ointments have a goodly fragrance; thy name is [as] ointment poured forth; therefore do the virgins love thee.

⁸ There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number.

³ Israel [was] holiness unto the LORD, the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall be held guilty; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.

¹ Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and to them that are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!

¹⁹ And there came a scribe, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

¹ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

⁵⁷ And as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. ⁵⁸ And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven [have] nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. ⁵⁹ And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. ⁶⁰ But he said unto him, Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but go thou and publish abroad the kingdom of God. ⁶¹ And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord; but first suffer me to bid farewell to them that are at my house. ⁶² But Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

¹² Again therefore Jesus spake unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

²⁶ If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will the Father honour.

³⁷ Peter saith unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee even now? I will lay down my life for thee.

²⁸ Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in the which the Holy Ghost hath made you bishops, to feed the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.

²⁰ for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.

²⁵ Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: but I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful. ²⁶ I think therefore that this is good by reason of the present distress, [namely], that it is good for a man to be as he is.

²⁸ But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Yet such shall have tribulation in the flesh: and I would spare you.

¹⁵ Now I beseech you, brethren (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have set themselves to minister unto the saints),

² For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you [as] a pure virgin to Christ.

¹⁴ which is an earnest of our inheritance, unto the redemption of [God’s] own possession, unto the praise of his glory.

³ forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth.

¹⁸ Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

⁹ But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for [God’s] own possession, that ye may shew forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

⁴ But thou hast a few names in Sardis which did not defile their garments: and they shall walk with me in white; for they are worthy.

⁹ And they sing a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and didst purchase unto God with thy blood [men] of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,

¹⁵ Therefore are they before the throne of God; and they serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall spread his tabernacle over them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun strike upon them, nor any heat: ¹⁷ for the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them unto fountains of waters of life: and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.

¹⁴ These shall war against the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings; and they [also shall overcome] that are with him, called and chosen and faithful.
