⁶⁷ Then did they spit in his face and buffet him: and some smote him with the palms of their hands,

¹⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut up without the camp seven days, and after that she shall be brought in again.

⁹ then shall his brother’s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto the man that doth not build up his brother’s house.

²⁴ Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

³⁰ Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him; let him be filled full with reproach.

⁴⁵ Thou hast made us [as] the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples.

¹ Now shalt thou gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

³⁹ but I say unto you, Resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

³⁰ And they spat upon him, and took the reed and smote him on the head.

²² And when he had said this, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

³ and they came unto him, and said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they struck him with their hands.

² And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth. ³ Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: and sittest thou to judge me according to the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?

¹³ being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now.

²⁰ For ye bear with a man, if he bringeth you into bondage, if he devoureth you, if he taketh you [captive], if he exalteth himself, if he smiteth you on the face. ²¹ I speak by way of disparagement, as though we had been weak. Yet whereinsoever any is bold (I speak in foolishness), I am bold also.

² looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of [our] faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
