⁹ And they, when they heard it, went out one by one, beginning from the eldest, [even] unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst.

²¹ And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us. ²² And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore also, behold, his blood is required.

⁴⁴ The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou didst to David my father: therefore the LORD shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head.

¹⁸ And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? thou art come unto me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son!

¹² He frustrateth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. ¹³ He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

⁵ That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment?

²⁷ The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.

¹⁵ The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. ¹⁶ The LORD hath made himself known, he hath executed judgment: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higaion. Selah

¹⁴ Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it: let them be turned backward and brought to dishonour that delight in my hurt.

²¹ These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: [but] I will reprove thee, and set [them] in order before thine eyes.

¹³ Let them be ashamed [and] consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.

²² for oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

¹⁴ And king Herod heard [thereof]; for his name had become known: and he said, John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore do these powers work in him. ¹⁵ But others said, It is Elijah. And others said, [It is] a prophet, [even] as one of the prophets. ¹⁶ But Herod, when he heard [thereof], said, John, whom I beheaded, he is risen.

¹ In the mean time, when the many thousands of the multitude were gathered together, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ² But there is nothing covered up, that shall not be revealed: and hid, that shall not be known. ³ Wherefore whatsoever ye have said in the darkness shall be heard in the light; and what ye have spoken in the ear in the inner chambers shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

¹⁷ And as he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame: and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

² And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

¹⁰ And Jesus lifted up himself, and said unto her, Woman, where are they? did no man condemn thee?

¹² Again therefore Jesus spake unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.

¹⁵ in that they shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness therewith, and their thoughts one with another accusing or else excusing [them];

²² thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou rob temples?

²⁰ whereinsoever our heart condemn us; because God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
