²⁰ Egypt is a very fair heifer; [but] destruction out of the north is come, it is come.

¹⁴ Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

⁹ behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and [I will send] unto Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.

⁶ Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; in the north by the river Euphrates have they stumbled, and fallen.

¹⁰ For that day is [a day] of the Lord, the LORD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall drink its fill of their blood: for the Lord, the LORD of hosts, hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

²⁴ The daughter of Egypt shall be put to shame; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.

² Thus saith the LORD: Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and shall overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and them that dwell therein: and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.

¹¹ Because ye are glad, because ye rejoice, O ye that plunder mine heritage, because ye are wanton as an heifer that treadeth out [the corn], and neigh as strong horses;

¹¹ And Ephraim is an heifer that is taught, that loveth to tread out [the corn]; but I have passed over upon her fair neck: I will set a rider on Ephraim; Judah shall plow, Jacob shall break his clods.
