⁹ And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

⁷ He stretcheth out the north over empty space, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

¹⁰ He hath described a boundary upon the face of the waters, unto the confines of light and darkness.

⁸ [Or who] shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, [as if] it had issued out of the womb; ⁹ When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, ¹⁰ And prescribed for it my decree, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further; and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

¹ A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. ² For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

⁷ He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the deeps in storehouses.

⁵ The sea is his, and he made it; and his hands formed the dry land.

³ Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters; who maketh the clouds his chariot; who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

⁵ Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved for ever. ⁶ Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains. ⁷ At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away; ⁸ They went up by the mountains, they went down by the valleys, unto the place which thou hadst founded for them. ⁹ Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

⁵ To him that by understanding made the heavens: for his mercy [endureth] for ever. ⁶ To him that spread forth the earth above the waters: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.

²⁸ When he made firm the sides above: when the fountains of the deep became strong: ²⁹ When he gave to the sea its bound, that the waters should not transgress his commandment: when he marked out the foundations of the earth:

⁷ All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; unto the place whither the rivers go, thither they go again.

²² Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it? and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it.

⁹ And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.

⁵ For this they wilfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and amidst water, by the word of God;

⁶ and sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created the heaven and the things that are therein, and the earth and the things that are therein, and the sea and the things that are therein, that there shall be time no longer:
