¹¹ the oath of the LORD shall be between them both, whether he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner thereof shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.

⁸ If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall come near unto God, [to see] whether he have not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.

¹ Thou shalt not take up a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

¹ And if any one sin, in that he heareth the voice of adjuration, he being a witness, whether he hath seen or known, if he do not utter [it], then he shall bear his iniquity:

³ or have found that which was lost, and deal falsely thereto, and swear to a lie; in any of all these that a man doeth, sinning therein:

⁴² And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee to swear by the LORD, and protested unto thee, saying, Know for certain, that on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any whither, thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me, The saying that I have heard is good. ⁴³ Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the LORD, and the commandment that I have charged thee with?

⁹ Lest I be full, and deny [thee], and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and use profanely the name of my God.

¹⁶ For men swear by the greater: and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation.
