¹¹ Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and [against] God.

¹⁶ And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as the homeborn, when he blasphemeth the name [of the LORD], shall be put to death.

¹⁰ and set two men, sons of Belial, before him, and let them bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst curse God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he die. ¹¹ And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. ¹³ And the two men, sons of Belial, came in and sat before him: and the men of Belial bare witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did curse God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

⁵⁹ Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death; ⁶⁰ and they found it not, though many false witnesses came. But afterward came two,

¹² And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, ¹³ saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. ¹⁴ And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and rid you of care. ¹⁵ So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying was spread abroad among the Jews, [and continueth] until this day.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses; grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

⁴⁵ Think not that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, [even] Moses, on whom ye have set your hope. ⁴⁶ For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote of me. ⁴⁷ But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

²⁹ We know that God hath spoken unto Moses: but as for this man, we know not whence he is.

³³ The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. ³⁴ Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? ³⁵ If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken), ³⁶ say ye of him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am [the] Son of God?

³ And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

¹³ and set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law:

³⁷ This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall God raise up unto you from among your brethren, like unto me. ³⁸ This is he that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received living oracles to give unto us: ³⁹ to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and turned back in their hearts unto Egypt,

²¹ For Moses from generations of old hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath.

⁶ And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook out his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood [be] upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

²⁰ And they, when they heard it, glorified God; and they said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of them which have believed; and they are all zealous for the law: ²¹ and they have been informed concerning thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs. ²² What is it therefore? they will certainly hear that thou art come.

²⁸ crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place: and moreover he brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath defiled this holy place.

¹² And when it was day, the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. ¹³ And they were more than forty which made this conspiracy. ¹⁴ And they came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, to taste nothing until we have killed Paul. ¹⁵ Now therefore do ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you, as though ye would judge of his case more exactly: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to slay him.

¹ And after five days the high priest Ananias came down with certain elders, and [with] an orator, one Tertullus; and they informed the governor against Paul. ² And when he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy much peace, and that by thy providence evils are corrected for this nation, ³ we accept it in all ways and in all places, most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness. ⁴ But, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I entreat thee to hear us of thy clemency a few words. ⁵ For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of insurrections among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes: ⁶ who moreover assayed to profane the temple: on whom also we laid hold: ^{7 8} from whom thou wilt be able, by examining him thyself, to take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him. ⁹ And the Jews also joined in the charge, affirming that these things were so. ¹⁰ And when the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, Paul answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do cheerfully make my defence: ¹¹ seeing that thou canst take knowledge, that it is not more than twelve days since I went up to worship at Jerusalem: ¹² and neither in the temple did they find me disputing with any man or stirring up a crowd, nor in the synagogues, nor in the city. ¹³ Neither can they prove to thee the things whereof they now accuse me.

³ asking favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem; laying wait to kill him on the way.

⁷ And when he was come, the Jews which had come down from Jerusalem stood round about him, bringing against him many and grievous charges, which they could not prove;

¹¹ And punishing them oftentimes in all the synagogues, I strove to make them blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.

⁸ and why not (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), Let us do evil, that good may come? whose condemnation is just.

¹³ though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;

² who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also was Moses in all his house. ³ For he hath been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by so much as he that built the house hath more honour than the house. ⁴ For every house is builded by some one; but he that built all things is God. ⁵ And Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken;
