¹⁷ Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings:

²⁹ And the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren that dwelt in Judaea: ³⁰ which also they did, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

³¹ Wherefore watch ye, remembering that by the space of three years I ceased not to admonish every one night and day with tears.

²⁶ Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them went into the temple, declaring the fulfillment of the days of purification, until the offering was offered for every one of them.

²⁵ but now, [I say], I go unto Jerusalem, ministering unto the saints. ²⁶ For it hath been the good pleasure of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints that are at Jerusalem. ²⁷ Yea, it hath been their good pleasure; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they owe it [to them] also to minister unto them in carnal things. ²⁸ When therefore I have accomplished this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will go on by you unto Spain.

³¹ that I may be delivered from them that are disobedient in Judaea, and [that] my ministration which [I have] for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints;

¹ Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I gave order to the churches of Galatia, so also do ye. ² Upon the first day of the week let each one of you lay by him in store, as he may prosper, that no collections be made when I come. ³ And when I arrive, whomsoever ye shall approve by letters, them will I send to carry your bounty unto Jerusalem: ⁴ and if it be meet for me to go also, they shall go with me.

¹ Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God which hath been given in the churches of Macedonia; ² how that in much proof of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. ³ For according to their power, I bear witness, yea and beyond their power, [they gave] of their own accord, ⁴ beseeching us with much entreaty in regard of this grace and the fellowship in the ministering to the saints:

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might become rich.

¹ For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you: ² for I know your readiness, of which I glory on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia hath been prepared for a year past; and your zeal hath stirred up very many of them.

¹² For the ministration of this service not only filleth up the measure of the wants of the saints, but aboundeth also through many thanksgivings unto God;

¹⁰ only [they would] that we should remember the poor; which very thing I was also zealous to do.
