²⁰ And it came to pass, when the time was come about, that Hannah conceived, and bare a son; and she called his name Samuel, [saying], Because I have asked him of the LORD.

And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to-night for thy son’s mandrakes. ¹⁶ And Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for I have surely hired thee with my son’s mandrakes. ⁵¹ And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For, [said he], God hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house. ⁵² And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.
