¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David. ¶ In thee, O LORD, have I waited; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in thy righteousness.

⁸ The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me. ⁹ Let wickedness consume the wicked; but establish the just: for the righteous God is he who tries the hearts and kidneys.

⁴ Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. ⁵ They cried unto thee and were delivered: they trusted in thee and were not confounded.

² Beth O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me.

¹ ¶ Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against those who are not merciful; O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

¹ ¶ In thee, O LORD, have I waited; let me not be forever put to shame. ² Deliver me in thy righteousness and cause me to escape; incline thine ear unto me and save me. ³ Be thou my strong habitation unto which I may continually resort; thou hast given a commandment that I should be saved because thou art my rock and my fortress.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Hear my prayer, O LORD; give ear to my supplications for the sake of thy truth; answer me for the sake of thy righteousness.

¹¹ By thy name, O LORD, thou shalt give me life; by thy righteousness thou shalt bring my soul out of trouble. ¹² And by thy mercy thou shalt scatter my enemies and destroy all the adversaries of my soul; for I am thy slave.

²³ And kings shall be thy nursing fathers and their princesses thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for those that wait for me shall not be ashamed.

¹⁶ O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and all thy people is given in reproach to all that are about us.

⁵ and the hope shall not be ashamed, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.

¹¹ For the scripture says, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.
