⁵ Those that sow with tears shall reap with joy.

¹ ¶ By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

¹ ¶ And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will sing unto thee; though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou hast comforted me. ² Behold, O God my saving health, I will trust and not be afraid for JAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he also is become saving health unto me. ³ Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of saving health.

¹⁰ And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with songs; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall retain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

⁹ They shall come with weeping, but with mercies I will cause them to return; I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, in which they shall not stumble; for I shall be a father to Israel, and Ephraim shall be my firstborn. ¹⁰ ¶ Hear the word of the LORD, O ye Gentiles, and cause it to be known in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock. ¹¹ For the LORD has ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he. ¹² Therefore they shall come and do praises in the height of Zion and shall run unto the goodness of the LORD, unto the bread, and unto the wine, and unto the oil, and unto the gain of the flock and of the herd and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. ¹³ Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy and will comfort them and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

¹⁷ Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Forgive thy people, O LORD, and do not give thine heritage to reproach that the Gentiles should rule over her: why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?

²³ Ye also, sons of Zion, be glad and rejoice in the LORD your God for he has given you the former rain according to righteousness, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain as in the beginning.

⁴ Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

²⁰ Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, and the world shall rejoice; but even though ye shall be sorrowful, your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ The woman, when she is in travail, has pain, because her hour is come; but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers the anguish no more, for joy that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no one shall take your joy from you.

⁸ For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent; for I perceive that the same epistle has made you sorry, though it were but for a season. ⁹ Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance; for ye were made sorry by God that ye might suffer no loss by us. ¹⁰ For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, of which there is no need to repented; but the sorrow of the world works death. ¹¹ For behold this same thing, that when ye were made sorry by God, what carefulness it wrought in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things ye have shown yourselves to be clean in this matter.

⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.
