¹¹ ¶ The rebellious man seeks only evil; therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

¹² Absalom also sent for Ahithophel, the Gilonite, of David’s counsel, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong, for the people increased continually with Absalom.

Let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

¹⁵ And ten young men that bore Joab’s armour surrounded and smote Absalom and slew him.

¹⁹ ¶ Then Ahimaaz, the son of Zadok, said, Let me now run and bear the king tidings, how that the LORD has vindicated him of his enemies.

¹ ¶ And a man of Belial happened to be there, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a man of Jemini, and he blew the shofar, saying, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to his tents, O Israel.

²² Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba, the son of Bichri, and cast it out to Joab. And he blew the shofar, and they retired from the city, each one to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.

²⁴ Now, therefore, as the LORD lives, who has confirmed me, and set me on the throne of David, my father, and who has made me a house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death today. ²⁵ Then King Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died.

³¹ And the king said unto him, Do as he has said and fall upon him and bury him that thou may take away from me and from the house of my father the blood which Joab shed without a cause.

⁴⁶ Then the king commanded Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, who went out and fell upon him that he died. And the kingdom was confirmed in the hand of Solomon.

⁴¹ They say unto him, He will destroy those wicked men without mercy and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

⁷ But when the king heard of this, he became angry and sent forth his armies and destroyed those murderers and burned up their city.

²⁷ Moreover, those enemies of mine, who were unwilling that I should reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.
