³¹ ¶ Old age is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness.

⁷ And Joseph brought in Jacob his father and set him before Pharaoh; and Jacob blessed Pharaoh. ⁸ And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old art thou? ⁹ And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have the days of the years of my life been and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage. ¹⁰ And Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from before Pharaoh.

³² Thou shalt rise up before grey hair and honour the face of the elder and fear thy God. I am the LORD.

² And now, behold, your king walks before you. I am old and grayheaded, and, behold, my sons are with you, and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day. ³ Behold, here I am; witness against me before the LORD and before his anointed. ¹⁰ ¶ and blessed the LORD before all the congregation; and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever. ¹¹ Thine, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the honour, for all things in the heavens and in the earth are thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. ¹² The riches and the glory are before thee, and thou dost reign over all, and in thy hand is power and might and in thy hand the greatness and the strength of all things. ¹³ Now, therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. ¹⁴ But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers and bowed down and worshipped before the LORD and the king. ²¹ And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the next day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. ²² And they ate and drank before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon, the son of David, king the second time and anointed him unto the LORD as ruler and Zadok as priest. ²³ ¶ Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David, his father, and was prospered; and all Israel heard him. ²⁴ And all the princes and the mighty men and all the sons likewise of King David, submitted themselves unto Solomon, the king. ²⁵ And the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel and bestowed upon him such glory of the kingdom as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

⁶ ¶ And Elihu, the son of Barachel, the Buzite, answered and said, I am younger, and ye are older; therefore, I was afraid, and I feared to declare unto you my opinion. ⁷ I said, Days shall speak, and the multitude of years shall declare wisdom.

¹ ¶ My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments: ² For they shall add length of days and long life and peace unto thee.

⁶ ¶ Children’s children are the crown of old men, and the honour of the children are their fathers.

²⁹ ¶ The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is the gray head.

¹³ ¶ Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king who will no longer be admonished.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord, blameless.

⁹ yet for the sake of charity I rather beseech thee, being such a one as Paul the aged and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
