¹ ¶ And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had taken; for he had taken an Ethiopian woman. ² And they said, Has the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? Has he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. ³ (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) ⁴ ¶ And the LORD spoke suddenly unto Moses and unto Aaron and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the testimony. And they three came out. ⁵ Then the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle and called Aaron and Miriam; and they both came forth. ⁶ And he said, Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision and will speak unto him in dreams. ⁷ My slave Moses is not so, who is faithful in all my house. ⁸ With him I will speak mouth to mouth and by sight not by enigmas; he shall see the similitude of the LORD. Why then were ye not afraid to speak against my slave Moses? ⁹ Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against them, and he departed. ¹⁰ ¶ And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle, and, behold, Miriam was leprous as the snow; and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. ¹¹ And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, in which we have done foolishly, and we have sinned. ¹² Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb. ¹³ Then Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee. ¹⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. ¹⁵ So Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days, and the people did not journey until Miriam was brought in again. ¹⁶ And afterward he moved the people from Hazeroth, and they pitched camp in the wilderness of Paran.

³ and I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of the heavens and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;

³⁷ And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell;

³⁴ ¶ And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith, the daughter of Beeri, the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon, the Hittite: ³⁵ Who were bitterness of spirit unto Isaac and to Rebekah.

⁴⁶ And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these who are of the daughters of this land, why should I want to live?

⁶ ¶ And Esau saw how Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padanaram, to take a wife from there for himself, and that as he blessed him, he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan, ⁷ and that Jacob had hearkened unto his father and his mother and had gone to Padanaram; ⁸ and Esau, seeing that the daughters of Canaan did not please Isaac his father, ⁹ Esau went unto Ishmael and took unto the wives which he had, Mahalath, the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

¹⁴ And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised, for among us that is a reproach. ¹⁵ But with this condition we will consent unto you: If ye will become as we are that every male of you be circumcised,

⁴⁵ And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnathpaaneah, and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.

¹⁶ ¶ Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters who came and drew water to fill the troughs to water their father’s sheep.

²¹ And Moses was content to dwell with the man; and he gave Moses Zipporah, his daughter.

¹⁶ or take of their daughters unto thy sons, and when their daughters go fornicating after their gods they shall make thy sons also fornicate after their gods.

¹⁴ A widow or a divorced woman or profane or a harlot, these he shall not take, but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

³⁶ And a man’s foes shall be those of his own household.

⁴⁸ But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brothers?

⁵ For not even his brethren believed in him.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said unto you, The slave is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.

¹⁶ Am I, therefore, become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

³³ And she conceived again and gave birth to a son; and said, Because the LORD has heard that I was hated, he has therefore given me this son also; and she called his name Simeon.

³⁰ And Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses and did the signs before the eyes of the people.

¹ ¶ And afterward Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go that they may celebrate a feast unto me in the wilderness.

¹⁰ So Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did as the LORD had commanded; and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his slaves, and it became a dragon.

²⁰ And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. ²¹ And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass that the people complained in an evil manner in the ears of the LORD, and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled, and the fire of the LORD burnt among them and consumed in the uttermost parts of the camp.

²⁹ And Moses said unto him, Art thou jealous for my sake? It would be good that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

³ and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said unto them, We have had enough of you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them; why then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?

²⁷ And when the mourning was past, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and gave birth to a son unto him. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.

⁴ Peradventure, the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, has sent to reproach the living God and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God has heard; therefore, lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.

⁷ Yet they say, JAH shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it. ⁸ Understand, ye carnal ones among the people, and, ye fools, when will ye be wise? ⁹ He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

¹⁰ ¶ Pride shall certainly give birth to contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

⁴ It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to blaspheme the living God and to reprove with the words which the LORD thy God has heard; therefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is still left.

¹² And thou shalt know that I, the LORD, have heard all thy injuries which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate; they are given us to devour. ¹³ Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me and have multiplied your words against me; I have heard them.

⁴ For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt and ransomed thee out of the house of slaves; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

³ Therefore I say through the grace given unto me, to all those that are among you not to obtain more knowledge than is prudent to know, but to obtain knowledge with temperance, each one according to the measure of faith that God has dealt.

¹⁰ loving one another with brotherly love, with honour preferring one another;

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in humility let each esteem others better than themselves,

¹⁴ ¶ Do all things without murmurings and doubts,

⁵ ¶ Likewise, young people, be subject to the elders in such a manner that you are all subject to one another. Be clothed with humility of will, for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.

¹⁰ Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, each man in the door of his tent; and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased. ¹¹ And Moses said unto the LORD, Why hast thou afflicted thy slave and why have I not found grace in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all these people upon me? ¹² Have I conceived all these people? Have I begotten them, that thou should say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nurse carries a sucking child, unto the land which thou hast sworn unto their fathers? ¹³ Where should I find flesh to give unto all these people? For they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh that we may eat. ¹⁴ I am not able to bear all these people alone because it is too heavy for me. ¹⁵ And if thou must deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found grace in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? ¹¹ Then Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice; and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. ¹² And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore, ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

³² They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes: ³³ Because they provoked his spirit to rebel, and he spoke it with his lips.

⁶ The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked down to the earth.

⁴ For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he will beautify the humble with saving health.

⁵ Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

⁵ Say unto the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King comes unto thee, meek and sitting upon an ass and a colt the foal of a beast under yoke.

¹ ¶ Now I, Paul, myself beseech you by the meekness and clemency of the Christ (who in presence am low among you, but being absent am bold toward you)

⁵ ¶ I reckon that I have not been inferior in any way to those grandiose apostles.

¹¹ ¶ I have been a fool, glorying; ye have compelled me; for I ought to have been commended of you, for in nothing am I behind the grandiose apostles, though I am nothing.

⁷ ¶ But we were gentle among you, as a mother feeding and caring for her children,

² For we all offend in many things. If any man offends not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to govern the whole body with restraint. ³ Behold, we put bits (or restraint) in the horses’ mouths to persuade them, and we govern their whole body.

¹³ ¶ Who is wise and ready among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works in meekness of wisdom.

⁴ but let the interior adorning of the heart be without corruption, and of an agreeable spirit and peaceful, which is precious in the sight of God.

¹⁶ And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the LORD, thou and they and Aaron, tomorrow; ¹⁷ and let each man take his censer and put incense in them and let each man bring his censer before the LORD, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also and Aaron, each of you with his censer. ¹⁸ And each man took his censer and put fire in them and laid incense in them and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the testimony with Moses and Aaron. ¹⁹ And Korah had gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the testimony; then the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation. ²⁰ And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, ²¹ Separate yourselves from among this congregation, and I will consume them in a moment.

⁹ when thou didst arise unto judgment, O God, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

⁵ ¶ And the LORD descended in a cloud and was with him there proclaiming the name of I AM.

³⁸ For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and the fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

²⁵ Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke unto him and took of the spirit that was in him and gave it unto the seventy elders, and it came to pass that when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied and did not cease.

⁷ He spoke unto them in the pillar of fire; they kept his testimonies and the order that he gave them.

¹ ¶ After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram; I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

⁷ Now therefore restore the man his wife, for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live. And if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou and all that are thine.

¹⁰ And it came to pass at the time that the sheep conceived, that I lifted up my eyes and saw in dreams, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the females were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled. ¹¹ And the angel of God spoke unto me in dreams, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.

¹ ¶ The LORD said unto Moses, See, I have constituted thee as god unto Pharaoh; and Aaron, thy brother, shall be thy prophet.

⁵ ¶ In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, Ask what you wish that I shall give thee.

¹² And being warned by divine revelation in dreams that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. ¹³ ¶ And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in dreams, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt and remain there until I bring thee word, for Herod will seek the young child to kill him.

³¹ Therefore ye are witnesses unto yourselves that ye are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that didst kill the prophets and stone those who are sent unto thee, how often I desired to gather thy children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

¹¹ And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

²² And when he came out, he could not speak unto them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he communicated with signs and remained speechless.

⁶ But and if we say, Of men, all the people will stone us; for they are certain that John was a prophet.

¹¹ and saw the heaven opened and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners and let down to the earth,

¹⁷ Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men who were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house and stood before the gate

¹⁷ And it came to pass that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a rapture of understanding ¹⁸ and saw him saying unto me, Make haste and go quickly out of Jerusalem, for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.

¹ ¶ Now after the death of Moses, the slave of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke unto Joshua, the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

²⁶ He sent Moses his slave and Aaron whom he had chosen.

⁹ But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

¹¹ Verily I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there has not risen a greater than John the Baptist; notwithstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of the heavens is greater than he.

²² For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things doing whatever he shall say unto you. ²³ And it shall come to pass that every soul which will not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people.

³¹ When Moses saw it, he wondered at the vision; and as he drew near to consider it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

² Moreover, it is required in stewards that each one be found faithful.

¹⁵ But if I tarry long, that thou may know how it is expedient to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of the living God, the pillar and base of the truth.

² who was faithful to him that appointed him over all his house, as also Moses was faithful. ³ For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who has built the house has more honour than the house. ⁴ For every house is built by someone, but he that created all things is God. ⁵ And Moses verily was faithful over all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after, ⁶ but Christ as a son over his own house, which house we are, if we hold fast the confidence and the glorious hope firmly until the end.

⁴ ¶ coming unto whom (is the living Stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious), ⁵ ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, well pleasing to God by Jesus, the Christ.

⁴ Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath nor that is in the water under the earth.

¹⁰ and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone like unto the heaven when it is clear. ¹¹ But he did not lay his hand upon the princes of the sons of Israel, and they saw God and ate and drank.

¹¹ And the LORD would speak unto Moses face to face, as anyone would speak unto their friend. And he would turn again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart out of the tabernacle.

¹⁹ And he replied, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name that I AM before thee; and I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and will show clemency on whom I will show clemency.

²³ Then I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see my back parts, but my face {Heb. faces} shall not be seen.

⁵ ¶ And the LORD descended in a cloud and was with him there proclaiming the name of I AM. ⁶ And as the LORD passed by before him, he proclaimed, I AM, I AM strong, merciful, and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and truth, ⁷ keeping mercy for thousands, letting go of iniquity and rebellion and sin; and by no means will I absolve the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the sons’ sons, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

³⁰ And when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.

¹⁴ and the inhabitants of this land will say, for they have already heard that thou, oh LORD, wast among this people, that thou, O LORD, art seen face to face, and that thy cloud was over them, and that thou didst go before them by day time in a pillar of a cloud and in a pillar of fire by night;

¹⁵ Diligently guard, therefore, your souls, for ye saw no manner of likeness on the day that the LORD spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire,

¹⁰ And there never arose a prophet since in Israel like Moses, who had known the LORD face to face,

¹⁵ As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness.

⁴ I will incline mine ear to a parable; I will declare my enigma upon the harp.

¹⁸ ¶ To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

⁵ ¶ To whom will ye liken me and make me equal and compare me that we may be alike?

² Son of man, propose a figure and compose an enigma unto the house of Israel

⁴⁹ Then I said, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Does he not speak parables?

³⁵ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

¹⁶ He that hears you hears me, and he that despises you despises me, and he that despises me despises him that sent me.

¹⁸ No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.

⁷ If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also; and from now on ye know him and have seen him. ⁸ Philip said unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it will suffice us. ⁹ Jesus said unto him, Have I been such a long time with you, and yet thou hast not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? ¹⁰ Believest thou not that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself; but the Father that dwells in me, he does the works.

¹⁵ From now on I do not call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his lord does; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

²⁴ If I had not done among them works which no other man has done, they would not have sin; but now they have seen them and hate both me and my Father.

¹² For now we see as through a mirror, in darkness, but then we shall see face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know even as I also am known.

¹⁸ Therefore we all, beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord with uncovered face, are transformed from glory to glory into the same likeness, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

⁴ In whom the god of this age has blinded the understanding of those who do not believe, that the light of the gospel of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine in them. ⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your slaves for Jesus’ sake. ⁶ For the God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to bring forth the light of the knowledge of the clarity of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature;

⁸ He therefore that despises us, does not despise man, but God, who has also given unto us his Holy Spirit.

¹⁶ the only one who has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

³ who being the brightness of his glory and the express image of his substance and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

¹⁰ ¶ and chiefly those that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise dominion; presumptuous, arrogant, they are not afraid to speak evil of the higher powers;

⁸ ¶ In the same manner these deceived dreamers, defile their flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of higher powers.

²² And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

¹⁵ I will go and return to my place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face; in their affliction they will seek me early.

⁶ And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Now put thy hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.

⁷ ¶ And Moses took the tabernacle and pitched it outside the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of the testimony. And it came to pass that every one who sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the testimony, which was outside the camp. ⁸ And it came to pass when Moses would go out unto the tabernacle, that all the people would rise up and stand each one at the door of their tent, with their gaze following Moses until he was gone into the tabernacle. ⁹ And when Moses would enter into the tabernacle, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD would talk with Moses. ¹⁰ And when all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door, all the people would rise up, each one in the door of their tent, and worship.

² When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, a scab, or bright spot, and it is in the skin of his flesh like the plague of leprosy, then he shall be brought unto Aaron, the priest, or unto one of his sons, the priests, ³ and the priest shall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh, and if the hair in the plague is turned white and the plague looks deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is a plague of leprosy; and the priest shall recognize him and pronounce him unclean. ⁴ If the bright spot is white in the skin of his flesh and looks to be not deeper than the skin and the hair thereof is not turned white; then the priest shall shut up the one that has the plague seven days; ⁵ and the priest shall look on him the seventh day and see if the plague in his sight is stayed and the plague is not spread in the skin, then the priest shall shut him up seven days the second time. ⁶ After this the priest shall look on him again the seventh day and see if the plague has darkened and that the plague is not spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is but a scab, and he shall wash his clothes and be clean. ⁷ But if the scab spreads much abroad in the skin after he has been shown unto the priest for his cleansing, he shall be seen of the priest again; ⁸ and if the priest recognizes that the scab has spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is leprosy. ⁹ When the plague of leprosy is in a man, then he shall be brought unto the priest; ¹⁰ and the priest shall see him; and if the rising looks white in the skin and it has turned the hair white and there is quick raw flesh in the rising, ¹¹ it is an old leprosy in the skin of his flesh, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean and shall not shut him up, for he is unclean. ¹² But if the leprosy breaks out abroad in the skin and the leprosy covers all the skin of him that has the plague from his head even to his feet wherever the priest looks, ¹³ then the priest shall consider; and if the leprosy has covered all his flesh, he shall pronounce the one that has the plague clean; it is all turned white; he is clean. ¹⁴ But the day that raw flesh appears in him, he shall be unclean. ¹⁵ And the priest shall see the raw flesh and pronounce him to be unclean, for the raw flesh is unclean: it is leprosy. ¹⁶ But when the raw flesh turns again and is changed unto white, he shall come unto the priest; ¹⁷ and the priest shall see him; and if the plague is turned white; then the priest shall pronounce the one that has the plague clean, and he shall be clean. ¹⁸ ¶ And when in the flesh, in the skin thereof, there was a boil and is healed, ¹⁹ and in the place of the boil there is a white rising or a bright spot, white, and somewhat reddish, it shall be shown to the priest; ²⁰ and the priest shall look, and if it appears to be lower than the skin and the hair thereof is turned white; the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a plague of leprosy broken out of the boil. ²¹ But if the priest considers it and there appear to be no white hairs in it and it is not lower than the skin, but somewhat dark, then the priest shall shut him up seven days; ²² and if it spreads much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a plague. ²³ But if the bright spot stays in its place and does not spread, it is the scab of a boil; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. ²⁴ Likewise when the flesh has in its skin a burn from fire, and in the place healed from the burn there a white bright spot, somewhat reddish, or white, ²⁵ then the priest shall look upon it; and if the hair in the bright spot is turned white and it looks deeper than the skin, it is a leprosy broken out of the burn; and the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is the plague of leprosy. ²⁶ But if the priest looks on it and there is no white hair in the bright spot and it is no lower than the other skin, but dark, then the priest shall shut him up seven days; ²⁷ and the priest shall recognize it the seventh day; and if it is spread much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is the plague of leprosy. ²⁸ And if the bright spot stays in its place and has not spread in the skin, but it is dark, it is a rising of the burn; and the priest shall pronounce him clean, for it is an inflammation of the burn. ²⁹ If a man or woman has a plague upon the head or the beard, ³⁰ then the priest shall see the plague; and if it looks deeper than the skin and the hair in it is yellowish and thin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a dry scall, leprosy of the head or beard. ³¹ But when the priest looks on the plague of the scall and if it does not look deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it, then the priest shall shut up the one that has the plague of the scall seven days; ³² and in the seventh day the priest shall look on the plague; and if the scall appears not to have spread and there is no yellowish hair in it and the scall appears not to be deeper than the skin, ³³ he shall be shaven, but the place of the scall he shall not shave; and the priest shall shut up the one that has the scall for seven days the second time. ³⁴ And in the seventh day the priest shall look on the scall; and if the scall is not spread in the skin nor in appearance deeper than the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; and he shall wash his clothes and be clean. ³⁵ But if the scall spreads much in the skin after his cleansing, ³⁶ then the priest shall look at it; and if the scall is spread in the skin, the priest shall not seek for yellowish hair; he is unclean. ³⁷ But if the scall appears to him to be stayed and there is black hair grown up in it, the scall is healed; he is clean; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. ³⁸ ¶ Likewise if a man or a woman has in the skin of their flesh bright spots, even white bright spots, ³⁹ the priest shall look; and if the bright spots in the skin of their flesh are darkish white, it is a freckled spot that grew in the skin; the person is clean. ⁴⁰ And the man whose hair has fallen off his head is bald; yet he is clean. ⁴¹ And if his hair has fallen off from the part of his head toward his face, he is forehead bald; yet is he clean. ⁴² But if in the bald head, or bald forehead, there is a white reddish sore, it is a leprosy sprung up in his bald head, or his bald forehead. ⁴³ Then the priest shall look upon it; and if the rising of the sore is white reddish in his bald head, or in his bald forehead, as the appearance of leprosy in the skin of the flesh, ⁴⁴ he is a leprous man, he is unclean; the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; his plague is in his head. ⁴⁵ And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent and his head uncovered, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip and shall cry, Unclean, unclean. ⁴⁶ All the days in which the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he shall be unclean; he shall dwell alone; outside the camp shall his habitation be.

⁹ Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way after ye were come forth out of Egypt.

²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

⁵ And the LORD smote the king so that he was a leper unto the day of his death and dwelt in a separate house. And Jotham, the king’s son, was over the house, judging the people of the land.

¹⁹ Then Uzziah was angry and had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and in this his anger with the priests, the leprosy rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, next to the altar of incense. ²⁰ And Azariah, the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from there, and he also hastened to go out because the LORD had smitten him. ²¹ And Uzziah, the king, was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD; and Jotham, his son, was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

⁴ And the glory of the LORD had gone up from the cherubim to the threshold of the door, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’s glory. ⁵ And the thunder of the cherubim’s wings was heard even to the outer court as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaks.

¹⁸ And the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubim. ¹⁹ And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight; when they went out, the wheels also were in front of them, and they stood at the entrance of the east gate of the LORD’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

¹² Though they bring up their sons, yet I will bereave them, that there shall not be a man left; yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!

⁴¹ Then he shall also say unto those who shall be on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels;

³² Also take your sheep and your cows, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.

³⁰ Therefore, the LORD God of Israel said, I had said indeed that thy house and the house of thy father should walk before me for ever, but now the LORD said, It shall never be; for those that honor me I will honor, and those that lightly esteem me shall be vile.

¹⁹ And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy slaves unto the LORD thy God that we not die, for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask for a king over us.

²⁴ ¶ Then Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD and thy words because I feared the people and consented unto their voice. ²⁵ Now, therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin and turn again with me that I may worship the LORD.

¹⁹ And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither retain the memory of the wickedness that thy slave did the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should guard it in his heart.

¹⁰ ¶ And David’s heart smote him after he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in having done this; but now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy slave, for I have done very foolishly.

⁶ Then the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored him again and became as it was before.

⁹ For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly, for from now on thou shalt have wars.

¹ A Psalm of David,
to bring to remembrance. ¶ O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. ² For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presses me sore. ³ There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. ⁴ For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. ⁵ My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

³² If thou hast fallen, it is because thou hast lifted thyself up; and if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.

² and said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this remnant (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us)

²⁴ Then Simon answered and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

⁹ Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but do lie; behold, I will constrain them to come and worship before thy feet and to know that I have loved thee.

¹⁶ Or, why was I not hidden as an untimely birth, as infants who never saw light?

⁸ As a snail which melts, let them pass away, like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

⁴ I am counted with those that go down into the pit; I am as a man that has no strength: ⁵ Freed among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou dost remember no more; and they are cut off from thy hand.

⁸ And last of all he appeared unto me also, as of one born out of due time.

¹ ¶ And he has made you alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, ² in which in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the will of the prince of the power of this air, the spirit that now works in the sons of disobedience, ³ among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind and were by nature the children of wrath, even as all the others. ⁴ ¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great charity with which he loved us, ⁵ even as we were dead in sins, he has made us alive together with the Christ (by whose grace ye are saved)

¹³ ¶ And you, being dead in sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he has quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

⁶ but she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.

¹⁰ Now therefore let me alone that my wrath may wax hot in them and consume them; and I will put thee over a great nation. ¹¹ Then Moses grieved before the LORD his God and said, LORD, why shall thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? ¹² Why should the Egyptians speak and say, For evil did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains and to consume them from upon the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath and repent of the evil of thy people. ¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy slaves, to whom thou didst sware by thine own self and hast said unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall take it for inheritance for ever. ¹⁴ Then the LORD repented of the evil which he said should be done unto his people.

² And all the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, and the whole congregation said unto them, Oh, that we might die in the land of Egypt or that we might die in this wilderness!

¹³ And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, for thou didst bring this people out of the midst of them with thy might; ¹⁴ and the inhabitants of this land will say, for they have already heard that thou, oh LORD, wast among this people, that thou, O LORD, art seen face to face, and that thy cloud was over them, and that thou didst go before them by day time in a pillar of a cloud and in a pillar of fire by night; ¹⁵ and that thou hast caused all this people to die as one man; and the Gentiles who have heard of thy fame will speak, saying, ¹⁶ Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore unto them; therefore, he has slain them in the wilderness. ¹⁷ And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying, ¹⁸ The LORD is longsuffering and of great mercy, letting go of iniquity and transgression and absolving, but by no means absolving the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generations. ¹⁹ Pardon now the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of thy mercy and as thou hast forgiven this people from Egypt even until now. ²⁰ ¶ Then the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word.

⁴¹ ¶ But on the next day all the congregation of the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD.

⁴⁶ And Moses said unto Aaron, Take the censer and put fire in it from off the altar and put incense upon it and go quickly unto the congregation and reconcile them; for the wrath has gone out from before the face of the LORD; the plague is begun. ⁴⁷ Then Aaron took his censer as Moses said and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people; and he put on incense and reconciled the people. ⁴⁸ And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed. ⁴⁹ Now those that died in that plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, besides those that died concerning the matter of Korah. ⁵⁰ And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, when the plague was stayed.

²³ Moreover as for me, in no wise should I sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you, but I will teach you the good and the right way.

¹¹ It grieves me that I have set up Saul to be king, for he has turned back from following me and has not performed my commandments. And it incensed Samuel, and he cried unto the LORD all night.

²⁶ Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD binds up the breach of his people and heals the stroke of their wound.

¹⁴ Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

⁴⁴ But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those who speak evil about you, and persecute you; ⁴⁵ that ye may be sons of your Father who is in the heavens, for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

²⁸ bless those that curse you, and pray for those who despitefully use you.

³⁴ Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment and cast lots.

⁶⁰ And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, Lord, impute not this sin to their charge. And having said this, he fell asleep in the Lord.

²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹⁵ and the prayer of faith shall cause the one who is sick to be saved, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he shall be forgiven them.

⁸ And he that is to be purified shall wash his clothes and shave off all his hair and wash himself with water, and he shall be clean; and after that he shall come into the camp and shall dwell outside of his tent seven days.

² Command the sons of Israel that they put out of the camp every leper and every one that has an issue and anyone who is defiled by the dead. ³ Both male and female shall ye put out; ye shall put them outside the camp; that they not defile the camp of those among whom I dwell.

⁹ then shall his brother’s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders and loose his shoe from off his foot and spit in his face and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother’s house.

⁶ He has made me a byword of the peoples; and before them I have been as a tambourine.

¹⁰ They abhor me, they distance themselves from me, and do not spare to spit in my face.

⁶ I gave my back to the smiters and my cheeks to those that plucked off the hair: I did not hide my face from shame and spitting.

⁶⁷ Then they spit in his face and buffeted him, and others smote him with the staves,

⁹ Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence; is it not much better to be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and we shall live?

²¹ and he drank of the wine and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. ²² And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brethren outside. ²³ Then Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.

¹² ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be lengthened upon the land which the LORD thy God gives thee.

⁸ Keep yourselves from the plague of leprosy that thou observe diligently and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you; as I commanded them, so ye shall take care to do. ⁹ Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way after ye were come forth out of Egypt.

³² Caph But though he causes grief, yet he will also have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

⁸ Do not rejoice against me, O my enemy; for if I have fallen, I shall arise; if I sit in darkness, the LORD is my light. ⁹ I will bear the indignation of the LORD because I have sinned against him, until he has judged my cause and executed my judgment; he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

² O LORD, I have heard thy word and was afraid; O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the times; in the midst of the times make it known; in wrath remember mercy.

²¹ And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother took a wife for him out of the land of Egypt.

¹² And the sons of Israel moved out of the wilderness of Sinai, and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.

³⁵ From Kibrothhattaavah he moved the people unto Hazeroth, and they abode at Hazeroth.

³ And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran; all those men were princes of the sons of Israel.

²⁶ ¶ And they went and came to Moses and to Aaron and to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran to Kadesh and brought back word unto them and unto all the congregation and showed them the fruit of the land.

¹⁸ And they departed from Hazeroth and pitched in Rithmah.

¹ ¶ And Samuel died, and all Israel gathered together and lamented him and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

³ ¶ God shall come from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was filled with his praise.
