⁴⁰ and saying, Thou that wouldst destroy the temple and build it in three days, save thyself. If thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}.

¹⁹ And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer comes; ²⁰ now therefore, come and let us slay him and cast him into a cistern, and we will say, Some evil beast has devoured him; and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones be made into bread.

⁶ and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, and in their hands they shall bear thee up lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and no sign shall be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.

⁶¹ who said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.

⁶³ But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the Son of God. ⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, Thou hast said it; nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power and coming in the clouds of heaven.

⁴² He saved others; he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}, and we will believe him.

⁵⁴ Now when the centurion and those that were with him, guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was God’s Son.

²⁹ Lest perhaps after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, ³⁰ saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

³¹ And he said unto him, If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, even though one rose from the dead.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Dissolve this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. ²⁰ Then said the Jews, This temple was forty-six years in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days? ²¹ But he spoke of the temple of his body. ²² Therefore when he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had said.

¹⁰ And those that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them and make merry and shall send gifts one to another because these two prophets tormented those that dwelt on the earth.
