¹ ¶ For the kingdom of the heavens is like unto a man, the husband of a house, who went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

¹¹ Solomon had a vineyard at Baalhamon; he let out the vineyard unto keepers; for its fruit each one was to bring a thousand pieces of silver. ¹² My vineyard, which is mine, is before me; the thousand pieces shall be thine, O Solomon, and two hundred for those that keep the fruit.

¹ ¶ Now will I sing to my well-beloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My well-beloved had a vineyard in the horn of the sons of oil; ² and he had fenced it and gathered out the stones thereof and planted it with the choicest vine and built a tower in the midst of it and also made a winepress therein; and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

³ From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, which are twenty-three years, the word of the LORD has come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and giving notice; but ye have not hearkened. ⁴ And the LORD has sent unto you all his slaves the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear,

² and saying, Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

³⁷ Then he said unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; ³⁸ pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

²⁴ ¶ He put forth another parable unto them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens is likened unto a man who sows good seed in his field

³¹ He put forth another parable unto them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field;

³³ He spoke another parable unto them: The kingdom of the heavens is like unto leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until the whole was leavened.

⁴⁴ ¶ Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like unto treasure hid in the field, which when found, a man hides it and, for the joy thereof, goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. ⁴⁵ Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls,

⁴⁷ Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like unto a net that was cast into the sea and gathered of every kind of fish,

²⁸ ¶ But what do you think? A certain man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, Son, go work today in my vineyard.

³³ ¶ Hear another parable: There was a certain husband of a house who planted a vineyard and hedged it round about and dug a winepress in it and built a tower and let it out to husbandmen and went into a far country, ³⁴ and when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his slaves to the husbandmen that they might receive the fruits of it. ³⁵ And the husbandmen took his slaves and beat one and killed another and stoned another. ³⁶ Again, he sent other slaves more than the first, and they did unto them likewise. ³⁷ But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. ³⁸ But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us take his inheritance. ³⁹ And they took hold of him and cast him out of the vineyard and slew him. ⁴⁰ Therefore, when the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do unto those husbandmen? ⁴¹ They say unto him, He will destroy those wicked men without mercy and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen who shall render him the fruits in their seasons. ⁴² Jesus said unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? ⁴³ Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a people bringing forth the fruits thereof.

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that didst kill the prophets and stone those who are sent unto thee, how often I desired to gather thy children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

¹ ¶ Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be likened unto ten virgins who, taking their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom.

¹⁴ ¶ For it is like a man travelling into a far country, who called his own slaves and delivered unto them his goods.

³⁴ As the man who, taking a far journey, left his house and gave his estate to his slaves and to each one his responsibility and commanded the porter to watch.

¹ ¶ I AM the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

⁵⁸ ¶ Therefore, my beloved brothers, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

²¹ make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for the ages of the ages. Amen.

⁵ ¶ Ye also, giving all diligence to the same, show forth virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, temperance; and in temperance, patience; and in patience, fear of God; ⁷ and in fear of God, brotherly love; and in brotherly love, charity. ⁸ For if these things are in you and abound, they shall not let you be idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ But he that lacks these things is blind and walks feeling the way with his hand, having forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. ¹⁰ Therefore, brethren, give all the more diligence to make your calling and election sure; for doing these things, ye shall never fall.
