⁴⁰ And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

¹⁰ And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou would bless me indeed and enlarge my border and that thy hand might be with me and that thou would deliver me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

⁵ Sustain my steps in thy ways that my footsteps not slip.

¹³ Keep back thy slave also from pride and arrogance; let them not have dominion over me; then I shall be perfect, and I shall be innocent of the great rebellion.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

³⁶ ¶ Then Jesus came with them unto a place called Gethsemane and said unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. ³⁷ And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and very heavy. ³⁸ Then he said unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death; tarry ye here and watch with me. ³⁹ And he went a little further and fell on his face, praying and saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. ⁴⁰ And he came unto the disciples and found them asleep and said unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ⁴² He went away again the second time and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me except I drink it, thy will be done. ⁴³ And he came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. ⁴⁴ And leaving them, he went away again and prayed the third time, saying the same words. ⁴⁵ Then he came unto his disciples and said unto them, Sleep on now and take your rest; behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴⁶ Rise, let us be going; behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

Could thou not watch one hour? ³⁸ Watch ye and pray; enter not into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is sick. ³⁹ And again he went away and prayed and spoke the same words. ⁴⁰ And when he returned, he found them asleep again (for their eyes were heavy), nor did they know what to answer him. ⁴¹ And he came the third time and said unto them, Sleep on now and rest; it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of the sinners. ⁴² Rise up, let us go; behold, he that betrays me is at hand.

⁴ And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

⁴⁶ and said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

⁷ And lest the greatness of the revelations should exalt me above measure, there is given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. ⁸ For this thing I besought the Lord three times that it might be taken from me. ⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather glory in my weaknesses that the power of Christ may dwell in me. ¹⁰ Therefore I am content in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake, for when I am weak, then am I strong.

¹⁸ praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching in this with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints ¹⁹ ¶ and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth with confidence, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

⁷ ¶ But the end of all things is at hand; be ye, therefore, temperate and watch unto prayer.

⁸ ¶ Be temperate and vigilant because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour, ⁹ resist him steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are to be accomplished in the company of your brethren that are in the world.

¹⁰ Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the entire world, to try those that dwell upon the earth.
