¹⁹ God shall lay up his violence for their sons; and he will reward him so that he shall know it.

⁷ If thou doest good, it shall certainly be accepted; and if thou doest not good, sin lies at the door. And his desire shall be unto thee, but thou must rule over him.

⁵ Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me

³⁴ Do I not have this laid up in store, sealed up in my treasuries?

⁴¹ if I whet the resplendence of my sword and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to my enemies and will recompense those that hate me.

³⁹ And I am this day a tender anointed king, and these men the sons of Zeruiah are too hard for me; the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

²⁴ then thou shalt lay up gold as dust and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

⁵ He shall reward evil unto my enemies; cut them off in thy truth.

⁹ Let his children be fatherless and his wife a widow. ¹⁰ Let his children be continually vagabonds and beg; let them seek their bread out of their desolate places. ¹¹ Let the extortioner catch all that he has, and let the strangers spoil his labour. ¹² Let there be no one to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children. ¹³ Let his posterity be cut off, and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. ¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. ¹⁵ Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth. ¹⁶ Because he did not remember to show mercy but persecuted the man who is poor in spirit and destitute and broken in heart, that he might slay him. ¹⁷ As he loved the curse, so let it come unto him; as he delighted not in the blessing, so let it be far from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himself with the curse like as with his garment, and it entered into his bowels like water and like oil into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be unto him as the garment which covers him and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually. ²⁰ Let this be the reward from the LORD of those who spoke falsely against me and of those that speak evil against my soul. ²¹ ¶ And thou, O GOD the Lord, do unto me for thy name’s sake; because thy mercy is good, deliver me. ²² For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. ²³ I am gone like the shadow when it declines; I am tossed up and down by the wind as the locust. ²⁴ My knees are weak through fasting, and my flesh fails for lack of fatness. ²⁵ I have become a reproach unto them; when they looked upon me they shook their heads. ²⁶ Help me, O LORD my God; O save me according to thy mercy, ²⁷ that they may know that this is thy hand, that thou, O LORD, hast done it. ²⁸ Let them curse, but bless thou; when they arise, let them be ashamed, but let thy slave rejoice. ²⁹ Let those who speak evil against me falsely be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion as with a mantle. ³⁰ I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude. ³¹ For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor in spirit to save his soul from those that judge him.

²¹ Prepare slaughter for his sons for the iniquity of their fathers that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

⁴ ¶ Surely he has borne our sicknesses and suffered our pain: and we considered him stricken, smitten of God, and cast down. ⁵ But he was wounded for our rebellions; he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and by his stripes healing was provided for us. ⁶ All we like sheep have become lost; we have turned each one to his own way; and the LORD transposed in him the iniquity of us all.

²⁹ In those days they shall no longer say, The fathers have eaten the sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.

² What mean ye, that ye use this saying concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes and the children’s teeth are set on edge?

¹⁴ But if he begets a son that sees all his father’s sins which he has done and seeing them, does not do according to them,

¹⁹ Yet if ye say, Why does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? Because the son has lived according to judgment and righteousness and has kept all my statutes and has done them, he shall surely live. ²⁰ The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him who is righteous, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him who is wicked.

¹⁸ Therefore become ye converted, and ye shall make a difference between the just and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that did not serve him.

¹⁹ ¶ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal; ²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupt and where thieves do not break through nor steal;

²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward everyone according to their works.

³¹ Therefore ye are witnesses unto yourselves that ye are the sons of those who murdered the prophets. ³² Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. ³³ Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the judgment of hell? ³⁴ ¶ Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets and wise men and scribes, and some of them ye shall kill and crucify, and some of them ye shall scourge in your synagogues and persecute them from city to city, ³⁵ that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye murdered between the temple and the altar.

⁵ But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasures up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

²¹ For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

¹⁴ Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

⁶ Reward her even as she rewarded you and pay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has given thee to drink, give her double.
