⁵ He that speaks flattery to his neighbour, even the eyes of his sons shall fail.

⁵ Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me

⁶⁵ Neither shalt thou find rest among these Gentiles, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest; but there the LORD shall give thee a trembling heart and failing of eyes and sorrow of soul;

¹² But I will not do it in thy days for David, thy father’s sake, but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

²⁰ But the eyes of the wicked shall consume themselves, and they shall have no refuge, and their hope shall be agony of the soul.

²¹ I will not now be a respecter of persons, neither will I give flattering titles unto man. ²² For I do not know how to give flattering titles; otherwise my maker would soon take me away.

² Each one speaks vanity with his neighbour: they speak with flattering lips and with a double heart. ³ The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks proud things:

¹⁹ ¶ He that goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; therefore meddle not with him that flatters with his lips.

⁵ ¶ The man that flatters his neighbour spreads a net for his feet.

¹⁷ Ain As for us, our eyes have failed in seeking our vain help; in our watching we have watched for people that cannot save us.
