⁴² They shall hold the bow and the lance; they shall be cruel and will not show mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea, ³ though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the violence thereof. Selah.

⁶ ¶ The Gentiles raged, the kingdoms were moved; he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

²⁰ Have respect unto the covenant; for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of violence.

⁸ O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewards thee as thou hast served us. ⁹ Happy shall he be, that takes and dashes thy offspring against the stones.

²⁸ whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent; their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and the wheels of their chariots like a whirlwind;

³⁰ And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea; and if one looks unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.

¹⁷ Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not look for silver, nor covet gold. ¹⁸ They shall shoot at the young boys with bows, and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare the sons.

⁶ who smote the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the Gentiles in anger and who did not defend the persecuted.

⁶ I was wroth with my people; I have profaned my inheritance and given them into thine hand; thou didst show them no mercy; upon the ancient thou hast very heavily laid thy yoke.

²² Thus hath the LORD said, Behold, a people come from the land of the north wind, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth. ²³ They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and they shall have no mercy; their voice shall roar like the sea; and they shall ride upon horses set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.

¹⁶ The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan; the whole earth trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come and have devoured the land and all that is in it, the city and those that dwell therein.

³ At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;

¹⁴ Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about; all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows; for she has sinned against the LORD.

⁶ For, behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which march through the breadth of the earth to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs. ⁷ She is terrible and dreadful: from her herself shall go forth their rights and their grandeur. ⁸ Their horses shall be swifter than tigers and are sharper than the evening wolves, and their horsemen shall multiply themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as eagles that hasten to eat.

¹³ For judgment without mercy shall be done unto the one that has shown no mercy; and mercy boasts against judgment.

⁶ for they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they deserve it.

¹⁴ And the armies that are in the heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. ¹⁵ And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the Gentiles; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; and he treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. ¹⁶ And he has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. ¹⁷ And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that flew in the midst of the heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God, ¹⁸ that ye may eat flesh of kings and flesh of captains, and flesh of mighty men and flesh of horses and of those that sit on them and the flesh of everyone, free and bond, both small and great.
