²¹ And Moses was content to dwell with the man; and he gave Moses Zipporah, his daughter.

³⁸ These twenty years I have been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not aborted their young, and I have not eaten the rams of thy flock. ³⁹ That which was torn of beasts I did not bring unto thee; I bore the sin; thou didst require of my hand that which was stolen, whether by day or by night. ⁴⁰ By day the drought consumed me, and by night, the frost; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.

¹⁰ And when the child grew, she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses, for she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

²⁰ Then Moses took his wife and his sons and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt; and Moses took the rod of God in his hand. ²¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand; but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. ²² And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, The LORD hath said thus: Israel is my son, even my firstborn. ²³ And I have said unto thee, Let my son go that he may serve me, but thou hast refused to let him go; therefore, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn. ²⁴ ¶ And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him and sought to kill him. ²⁵ Then Zipporah took a sharp flint and cut off the foreskin of her son and cast it at his feet, saying, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.

² then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, took Zipporah, Moses’ wife, after he had sent her back, ³ and her two sons, of which the name of the one was Gershon, for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land, ⁴ and the name of the other was Eliezer, for the God of my father, said he, helped me and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh; ⁵ and Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he was camped next to the mount of God; ⁶ and he said unto Moses, I, thy father-in-law Jethro, am come unto thee and thy wife and her two sons with her.

¹ ¶ And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had taken; for he had taken an Ethiopian woman.

¹¹ Not that I speak in respect of want, for I have learned, in whatever state I am, to be content. ¹² I know both how to be humbled, and I know how to have an abundance; in everything and by all things I am instructed, both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

⁶ ¶ But piety with contentment is great gain.

²⁵ choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season,

⁵ Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have; for he has said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

¹⁰ and he who is rich, in his low status, because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
