³⁷ If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

³ Then he took up his parable and said, Balaam, the son of Beor, has said and the man whose eyes are open has said, ⁴ he who has heard the words of God has said, who saw the vision of the Almighty, fallen, but having his eyes open:

¹⁶ he who has heard the words of God has said, and he who knows the knowledge of the most High, he who saw the vision of the Almighty, fallen, but having his eyes open:

¹⁶ He that hears you hears me, and he that despises you despises me, and he that despises me despises him that sent me.

³ Therefore I say through the grace given unto me, to all those that are among you not to obtain more knowledge than is prudent to know, but to obtain knowledge with temperance, each one according to the measure of faith that God has dealt.

²⁵ ¶ Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord, yet I give my advice, as one that has obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

⁴⁰ But she shall be more blessed if she so abides, after my counsel, and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.

² And if anyone thinks that they know anything, they know nothing yet as they ought to know.

¹ ¶ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. ² And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. ³ And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned and have not charity, it profits me nothing.

⁷ ¶ Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If anyone trusts to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that as he is Christ’s, even so we are Christ’s.

¹² ¶ For we dare not mix ourselves in with or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves, but they do not understand that they are measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves among themselves.

⁴ Therefore if anyone comes preaching another Jesus whom we have not preached or if ye receive another spirit from that which ye have received or another gospel from that which ye have accepted, ye bear well with it.

¹² But what I do, I will continue to do that I may take away the occasion from those who desire it to be found like unto us in that in which they glory. ¹³ For these false apostles are deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And it is no marvel, for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers transform themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

⁸ For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that sows in the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap eternal life.

¹ ¶ It is in order then, brethren, that we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that in the manner ye were taught of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would continue to grow. ² For ye already know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. ³ For the will of God is your sanctification, that ye should separate yourselves from fornication, ⁴ that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honesty, ⁵ not with affection of lust, as the Gentiles who do not know God, ⁶ that no one oppress and defraud his brother in any matter because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. ⁷ For God has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto sanctification. ⁸ He therefore that despises us, does not despise man, but God, who has also given unto us his Holy Spirit.

² that ye keep in memory the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of our commandment, that we are apostles of the Lord and Saviour,

⁶ We are of God; he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

¹⁷ But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
