THE EPHRAYIM FEEL SLIGHTED
And they summon the men of Ephrayim; and they pass over northward and say to Yiphtach, Why pass you over to fight the sons of Ammon and call not us to go with you? We burn your house on you with fire! ² And Yiphtach says to them, I became a man of mighty strife - I and my people with the sons of Ammon; and when I cried to you, you saved me not from their hands; ³ and when I saw you saved me not, I set my soul in my palms and passed over against the sons of Ammon; and Yah Veh gives them into my hand. Why then ascend you to me this day, to fight me? ⁴
JUDGE YIPHTACH FIGHTS EPHRAYIM
Then Yiphtach gathers all the men of Gilad and fights Ephrayim: and the men of Gilad smite Ephrayim, because they say, You Giladiy are escapees of Ephrayim among the Ephrayimiy and among the Menash Shiy. ⁵ And the Giladiy capture the passages of Yarden in front of the Ephrayimiy: and so be it, when those Ephrayimiy escapees say, Let me pass over! that the men of Gilad say to him, Are you an Ephrayim? ¹⁰ Arrogance gives strife; and with the counseled is wisdom.

²⁹ He who is slow to wrath is of great discernment; and he who is quick of spirit exalts folly.

¹ A tender answer turns away fury; and contorting words ascend wrath.

³² Better, slow to wrath, than mighty; - to reign over the spirit, than to capture a city.

¹⁹ He who loves rebellion, loves strife; and he who lifts his portal, seeks a breech.

¹¹ The comprehension of a human prolongs his wrath; and his beauty is to pass over a rebellion.

³ Honor to the man who shabbathizes from strife; and every fool quarrels.

⁸ Go not forth hastily to strive, What work you when your friend finally shames you?

²¹ As coals to coals, and timber to fire; thus a contentious man to scorch strife.

²² A man of wrath throttles strife and a master of fury abounds in rebellion.

⁸ Better the final word than the beginning: better the yearning spirit than the lofty spirit. ⁹ Be not hasty in your spirit to be vexed; for vexation rests in the bosom of fools.

³⁹ But I word to you, Resist not evil: but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, also turn the other to him: ⁴⁰ and to whoever wills to have you judged to take away your tunic, release your garment also: ⁴¹ and whoever compels you to go a mile, go with him two.

THE MINISTRY OF TABLES

PAULOS AND BAR NABI ASCEND TO YERU SHALEM

²³ And shun foolish and undisciplined questions, knowing that they birth strifes: ²⁴ and the servant of Adonay never strives; but is gentle, didactic, endures evil to all;

¹⁴ But if you have bitter zeal and strife in your hearts, neither exult nor lie against the truth. ¹⁵ - this wisdom descends not from above but is earthly, soulical, demonic. ¹⁶ For where there are zeal and strife, there are instability and every evil matter. ¹⁷ And indeed, the wisdom from above is first hallowed, then at shalom, gentle, agreeable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and unhypocritical: ¹⁸ and the fruit of justness spores in shalom by them who make shalom.
