NECHEM YAH WEEPS OVER THE SURVIVORS
Words of Nechem Yah the son of Hachal Yah. And so be it, in the month Kislav, in the twentieth year, I am in Shushan the palace, ² and Hanani, one of my brothers, comes - he and men of Yah Hudah; and I ask them concerning the Yah Hudiym who escaped - who survived of the captivity and concerning Yeru Shalem. ³ And they say to me, The survivors who survived the captivity there in the jurisdiction are in great evil and reproach: and the wall of Yeru Shalem is broken down and the portals thereof are burned with fire. ⁴ And so be it, I hear these words, and I settle and weep and mourn for days and fast and pray at the face of Elohim of the heavens; ⁵ and say, I beseech you, O Yah Veh Elohim of the heavens - the great and awesome El who guards covenant and mercy for them who love him and guard his misvoth: ⁶ hearken your ear, I pray, and open your eyes to hear the prayer of your servant which I pray at your face this day - by day and by night for the sons of Yisra El your servants; and spread hands for the sins of the sons of Yisra El we sinned against you - both I and the house of my father sinned. ⁷ In despoiling, we despoiled against you; and guarded neither the misvoth nor the statutes nor the judgments you misvahed your servant Mosheh. ⁸ Remember, I beseech you, the word you misvahed your servant Mosheh, saying, If you treason I scatter you abroad among the people: ⁹ but if you turn to me and guard my misvoth and work them - though some of you were expelled to the extremity of the heavens yet I gather them from there and bring them to the place I chose to tabernacle my name: ¹⁰ and they are your servants and your people whom you redeemed by your great force and by your strong hand. ¹¹ O Adonay, I beseech you, Hearken now your ear to the prayer of your servant - and to the prayer of your servants who delight to awe your name: and prosper, I beseech you, your servant this day; and give him mercies in the face of this man. For I am a butler of the sovereign.

⁹ Then the governor of the butlers words to Paroh, saying, I remember my sins this day:

¹³ you in your mercy lead the people you redeem: you guide them in your strength to your holy habitation of rest.

YAH VEH REVEALS HIS GLORY
And Mosheh strokes the face of Yah Veh his Elohim and says, O Yah Veh, why kindle your wrath against your people whom you brought from the land of Misrayim with great force and with a strong hand?

³³ and I scatter you among the goyim and draw a sword after you: and desolate your land and parch your cities. ³⁴ Then the land is pleased in her shabbaths as long as it desolates; with you in the land of your enemies; then the land shabbathizes and is pleased in her shabbaths: ³⁵ as long as it desolates, it shabbathizes; because it shabbathizes not in your shabbaths when you settle there. ³⁶ And on those who survive, I send a timidity into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the voice of a driven leaf pursues them; and they flee as retreating from a sword; and they fall when none pursues: ³⁷ and they falter - man to brother as at the face of a sword when none pursues: and you have no resistance at the face of your enemies: ³⁸ and you destruct among the goyim and the land of your enemies eats you: ³⁹ and those of you who survive pine away in their perversity in the lands of your enemies; and also in the perversities of their fathers they pine away with them.

MOSHEH LAYS OUT THE TORAH And now hearken, O Yisra El, to the statutes and to the judgments I teach you - to work them - to live and go in and possess the land Yah Veh Elohim of your fathers gives you:

⁵ See, I taught you statutes and judgments, even as Yah Veh my Elohim misvahed me, to work thus midst the land you go to possess.

²⁵ When you birth sons and sons of sons and linger in the land and ruin and make a sculptile or a manifestation and work evil in the eyes of Yah Veh your Elohim, to vex him to wrath: ²⁶ I call the heavens and earth to witness against you this day, that in destructing, you suddenly destruct from off the land whereunto you pass over Yarden to possess; that you prolong not your days thereon, but in desolating, become desolated: ²⁷ and Yah Veh scatter you among the nations and you be few men in number of the people who survive, where Yah Veh drives you.

YAH VEH, A MERCIFUL EL for Yah Veh your Elohim is a merciful El; he neither lets you loose nor ruins you, nor forgets the covenant of your fathers which he oathed to them.

RESUME' OF STATUTES AND JUDGMENTS And Mosheh calls all Yisra El, and says to them, Hear, O Yisra El, the statutes and judgments I word in your ears this day - to learn them and guard and work them.

¹ Now these are the misvoth the statutes and the judgments Yah Veh your Elohim misvahed to teach you - to work in the land you pass over to possess:

⁹ And you know that Yah Veh your Elohim is Elohim - the trustworthy El - who guards covenant and mercy with them who love him; and guards his misvoth to a thousand generations;

²¹ Terrify not at their face: for Yah Veh your Elohim is among you - a great El and awesome.

²⁹ Yet they are your people and your inheritance, whom you brought out by your great force and by your spread arm.

⁵ But to the place Yah Veh your Elohim chooses of all your scions to put his name there, seek and enter his tabernacle:

²¹ When the place Yah Veh your Elohim chooses to put his name is too far removed from you, then sacrifice of your oxen and of your flock Yah Veh gives you, as I misvahed you, eat whatever your soul desires within your portals:

¹⁵ and remember that you were a servant in the land of Misrayim; and Yah Veh your Elohim redeemed you: so I misvah you this word today.

THE CURSINGS OF DISOBEDIENCE And so be it, if you hearken not to the voice of Yah Veh your Elohim - to guard to work all his misvoth and his statutes which I misvah you this day, that all these abasements come on you and overtake you:

⁶⁴ and Yah Veh scatters you among all people from the end of the earth to the end of the earth; and there you serve other elohim which neither you nor your fathers know - timber and stone.

THE BIRTH OF IY CHABOD
And his daughter in law, the woman of Pinechas, conceives, near to birth: and when she hears the report that they took the ark of Elohim and deathified her father in law and her man, she bows herself and births; for her pains turn on her. ²⁰ And about the time she dies, the women stationed by her word to her, Awe not; you birth a son. ²⁸ Yet face the prayer of your servant and his supplication, O Yah Veh my Elohim, to hearken to the shout and to the prayer your servant prays at your face today: ²⁹ that your eyes be open toward this house night and day - toward the place of which you say, My name is there: to hearken to the prayer your servant prays toward this place:

³ And Yah Veh says to him, I heard the prayer and your supplication you besought at my face: I hallowed this house you built to set my name there eternally; my eyes and my heart being there all days.

⁴⁰ Now, my Elohim, I beseech you, that your eyes open and your ears hearken to the prayer in this place.

KORESH IS MUSTERED TO BUILD THE HOUSE OF YAH VEH
And in the first year of Koresh sovereign of Persia, in order to finish the word of Yah Veh by the mouth of Yirme Yah, Yah Veh wakens the spirit of Koresh sovereign of Persia: and he passes a voice throughout all his sovereigndom; and also inscribes, saying,

And these are the sons of the jurisdiction who ascend from the captivity - of the exiled whom Nebukadnets Tsar the sovereign of Babel exiled to Babel who return to Yeru Shalem and Yah Hudah, - every man to his city

⁸ Thus be it known to the sovereign, we go into the jurisdiction of Yah Hudah, to the great house of Elah - built with round stones and timber set in the walls: and this service keeps on diligently and prospers in their hands.

³ And I hear this word and I rip my clothes and my mantle and balden the hair of my head and of my beard, and sit down astonished.

⁶ and say, O my Elohim, I shame and blush to lift my face to thee, my Elohim: for our perversities abound over our head, and our guilt grows to the heavens: ⁷ since the days of our fathers we are in a great guilt - unto this day: and for our perversities, our sovereigns and our priests, are given into the hand of the sovereigns of the lands - to the sword, to captivity, and to a plunder, and to shamed face, as this day. ⁸ And now for a little blink, supplication becomes from Yah Veh our Elohim - to allow escapees to survive, and to give us a stake in his holies, so that our Elohim lighten our eyes, and give us a little invigoration in our servitude. ⁹ For we are servants; yet our Elohim forsakes us not in our servitude; but spreads us mercy at the face of the sovereigns of Persia - to give us an invigoration - to lift the house of our Elohim and to stand the parched areas thereof and to give us a wall in Yah Hudah and in Yeru Shalem.

¹⁴ - return we to break your misvoth and intermarry with the people of these abhorrences? Are you not angry with us - to finish us off so that there is neither survivor nor escapee?

A MIGHTY CONGREGATION WEEPS
And Ezra prays and spreads hands - weeping and falling at the face of the house of Elohim: a mighty great congregation from Yisra El - men and women and children gather to him: for in weeping, the people weep aboundingly.

ARTACH SHASHTA SENDS NECHEM YAH TO YERU SHALEM
And so be it, in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artach Shashta the sovereign, wine is at his face: and I lift the wine and give it to the sovereign - and I had never been evil to his face.

³ and say to the sovereign, The sovereign live eternally. Why not, my evil face, when the city, the house of the tombs of my father, is parched; and the portals thereof consume with fire? ⁴ And the sovereign says to me, For what seek you? And I prayed to Elohim of the heavens;

⁸ and an epistle to Asaph the guard of the paradise of the sovereign, to give me timber to fell beams for the portals of the palace - for the house and for the wall of the city and for the house I enter. - and the sovereign gives me, according to the good hand of my Elohim on me.

¹³ and I go by night by the portal of the valley at the face of the monster fountain and to the dunghill portal; and examine the walls of Yeru Shalem which are broken and the portals thereof consumed with fire:

¹⁷ And say I to them, You see the evil we are in, how Yeru Shalem is parched and the portals thereof burned with fire: come, and we build the wall of Yeru Shalem, that we are a reproach no more.

VASHTI THE SOVEREIGNESS
And so be it, in the days of Achash Rosh - Achash Rosh who reigns from Hodu even to Kush - a hundred and twenty-seven jurisdictions; ² in those days, the sovereign Achash Rosh settles on the throne of his sovereigndom in Shushan palace;

⁸ the precepts of Yah Veh are straight, cheering the heart; the misvah of Yah Veh is pure, enlightening the eyes; ⁹ the awe of Yah Veh is pure, standing eternally; the judgments of Yah Veh are truth, justified altogether.

⁵ My sin, you know; and my perversity, I covered not: I say, I spread hands for my rebellions to Yah Veh; and you lift the perversity of my sin. Selah.

¹⁷ evening and morning and noon I meditate and roar; and he hears my voice.

⁹ for the zeal of your house eats me; and the reproaches of them who reproach you fall on me. ¹⁰ I weep in the fasting of my soul - my reproach;

⁴⁹ ZAIN. Remember the word to your servant, on which you have me await:

⁶ Ask for the shalom of Yeru Shalem; they who love you are content: ⁷ shalom be within your trenches and serenity within your citadels: ⁸ for sake of my brothers and friends I beseech a word, Shalom - within you. ⁹ Because of the house of Yah Veh our Elohim I seek your good.

² Adonay, hear my voice; hearken your ears to the voice of my supplications.
