THE MARRIAGE OF SHIMSHON
And Shimshon descends to Timnah; and sees a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Peleshethiy: ² and he ascends and tells his father and his mother and says, I saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Peleshethiy; and now take her for me to woman. ³ And his father and his mother say to him, Is there not a woman among the daughters of your brothers or among all my people - that you go to take a woman of the uncircumcised Peleshethiy? And Shimshon says to his father, Take her for me; for she is straight in my eyes. ⁴ - and his father and his mother know not that it is of Yah Veh to seek an occasion against the Peleshethiy: at that time the Peleshethiy reign over Yisra El. ⁵ Then Shimshon and his father and his mother descend to Timnah and come to the vineyards of Timnah: and behold, a whelp of the lionesses roars in to meet him: ⁶ and the Spirit of Yah Veh prospers over him; and he cleaves him as he cleaves a kid with naught in his hand: but he tells not his father or his mother what he worked. ⁷ - and he descends and words with the woman; and she is straight in the eyes of Shimshon. ⁸ And after many days he returns to take her; and he turns aside to see the ruin of the lion: and behold, a witness of bees and honey in the body of the lion: ⁹ and he crumbles thereof in his palms and in walking, walks on eating and goes to his father and mother; and he gives them and they eat: but he tells them not that he crumbled the honey from the body of the lion. ¹⁰ And his father descends to the woman: and Shimshon works a banquet there; for thus the youths worked. ¹¹ And so be it, when they see him, they take thirty companions to be with him.

¹¹ And three thousand men of Yah Hudah descend to the cleft of the rock Etam; and say to Shimshon, Know you not that the Peleshethiy are sovereigns over us? What work you to us? And he says to them, As they work to me, thus I work to them. ¹² And Shimshon says to them, I now propound a riddle to you: if in telling, you tell me within the seven days of the banquet and find it out, I give you thirty wraps and thirty changes of clothes:

¹² And they say to him, We descend to bind you, to give you into the hand of the Peleshethiy. And Shimshon says to them, Oath to me, that you yourselves not encounter me. ¹³ and if you cannot tell me, you give me thirty wraps and thirty change of clothes. And they say to him, Propound your riddle, so that we hear it.

¹³ And they say to him, saying, No; but in binding, we bind you and give you into their hand: but in killing, we kill you not. - and they bind him with two new ropes and ascend him from the rock. ¹⁴ And he says to them, From the eater goes food and from the strong goes sweetness. - and they cannot in three days tell the riddle. ¹⁵ And so be it, on the seventh day, they say to the woman of Shimshon, Entice your man to tell to us the riddle; lest we burn you and the house of your father with fire. Have you called for us to dispossess us? Is it not so?

THE DEATH OF SHIMSHON
Then the ringleaders of the Peleshethiy gather together to sacrifice a great sacrifice to Dagon their elohim and to cheer: for they say, Our elohim gives Shimshon our enemy into our hand. ²⁴ And when the people see him, they halal their elohim: for they say, Into our hands our elohim delivers our enemy and the parcher of our land, who abounded our pierced. ²⁵ And so be it, when their hearts are goodly, they say, Call for Shimshon to entertain us. - and they call for Shimshon from the house of binding; and he entertains them: and they stand him between the pillars. ²⁶ And Shimshon says to the lad holding him by the hand, Allow me to touch the pillars whereupon the house is established - to lean on them. ²⁷ And the house is full of men and women; and all the ringleaders of the Peleshethiy are there - and on the roof about three thousand men and women see while Shimshon entertains. ²⁸ And Shimshon calls to Yah Veh, and says, O Adonay Yah Veh, remember me, I beseech you; strengthen me, I beseech you, only, this one time, O Elohim, to avenge the avengement of the Peleshethiy for my two eyes. ²⁹ And Shimshon clasps the two middle pillars whereon the house is established and whereon it is propped - the one with his right and the one with his left. ³⁰ And Shimshon says, O that my soul die with the Peleshethiy. - and he spreads himself with force; and the house falls on the ringleaders and on all the people therein. So the dead he deathified at his death are greater than those he deathified in his life.

²² And they become far removed from the house of Michah Yah; and the men in the houses near the house of Michah Yah cry out and adhere to the sons of Dan ²³ - and they cry out to the sons of Dan. And they turn their faces and say to Michah Yah, What is it to you, that you cry out? ²⁴ And he says, You take the elohim I worked and the priest and you go! What more have I? What is this that you say to me, What - to you? ²⁵ And the sons of Dan say to him, O that your voice not be heard among us, lest men bitter of soul encounter you and gather your soul with the souls of your household. ²⁶ And the sons of Dan go their way; and Michah Yah sees they are too strong for him: and he turns face and turns back to his house. ²⁷ And they take what Michah Yah worked and the priest he had; and come to Laish - to a people resting confidently: and they smite them with the mouth of the sword and burn the city with fire: ²⁸ and there is no rescuer because it is far from Sidon; and they have no word with humanity; and it is in the valley by Beth Rechob. And they build a city and settle therein: ²⁹ and they call the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was birthed to Yisra El: but formerly, the name of the city is Laish. ³⁰ And the sons of Dan raise the sculptile: and Yah Nathan the son of Gershom the son of Menash Sheh - he and his sons are priests to the scion of Dan until the day of the exile of the land: ³¹ and they set up the sculptile Michah worked all the days the house of Elohim is in Shiloh.

³⁵ And of the Daniy: twenty-eight thousand and six hundred lined up in battle.
