¹⁶ How much more is man abominable, and unprofitable, who drinketh iniquity like water?

³ They are all gone aside, they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good: no not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they acted deceitfully: the poison of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and unhappiness in their ways; and the way of peace they have not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes.

⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray, every one hath turned aside into his own way: and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

⁶ And we are all become as one unclean, and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman: and we have all fallen as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

⁵ Why then is this people in Jerusalem turned away with a stubborn revolting? they have laid hold on lying, and have refused to return. ⁶ I attended, and hearkened; no man speaketh what is good, there is none that doth penance for his sin, saying: What have I done? They are all turned to their own course, as a horse rushing to the battle.

²⁵ And I will pour upon you clean water, and you shall be cleansed from all your filthiness, and I will cleanse you from all your idols.

⁶ And them that turn away from following after the Lord, and that have not sought the Lord, nor searched after him.

¹² All have turned out of the way: they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good, there is not so much as one.

¹ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God.

²⁹ If you know that he is just, know ye, that every one also who doth justice is born of him.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, follow not that which is evil: but that which is good. He that doth good is of God: he that doth evil hath not seen God.

¹¹ He that hurteth, let him hurt still: and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is just, let him be justified still: and he that is holy, let him be sanctified still.
