⁵ I have acknowledged my sin to thee, and my injustice I have not concealed. I said I will confess against my self my injustice to the Lord: and thou hast forgiven the wickedness of my sin.

³⁹ And if of them also some remain, they shall pine away in their iniquities, in the land of their enemies: and they shall be afflicted for the sins of their fathers, and their own. ⁴⁰ Until they confess their iniquities, and the iniquities of their ancestors, whereby they have transgressed against me, and walked contrary unto me.

¹³ But yet acknowledge thy iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God: and thou hast scattered thy ways to strangers under every green tree, and hast not heard my voice, saith the Lord.

²⁰ Surely Ephraim is an honourable son to me, surely he is a tender child: for since I spoke of him, I will still remember him. Therefore are my bowels troubled for him: pitying I will pity him, saith the Lord.

¹ In their affliction they will rise early to me: Come, and let us return to the Lord.

¹⁵ And he said to them: you are they who justify yourselves before men, but God knoweth your hearts. For that which is high to men is an abomination before God.

³² And be ye kind one to another: merciful, forgiving one another, even as God hath forgiven you in Christ.

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquity. ¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar: and his word is not in us.
