¹ A psalm of a canticle, at the dedication of David's house. ^(30:2) I will extol thee, O Lord, for thou hast upheld me: and hast not made my enemies to rejoice over me.

⁵ And the captains shall proclaim through every band in the hearing of the army: What man is there, that hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.

¹¹ And Hiram the king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons for walls: and they built a house for David.

²⁰ And David returned to bless his own house: and Michol the daughter of Saul coming out to meet David, said: How glorious was the king of Israel to day, uncovering himself before the handmaids of his servants, and was naked, as if one of the buffoons should be naked.

² He said to Nathan the prophet: Dost thou see that I dwell in a house of cedar, and the ark of God is lodged within skins?

³ And when the king was come into his house at Jerusalem, he took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them inward, allowing them provisions: and he went not in unto them, but they were shut up unto the day of their death living in widowhood.

²⁵ And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered holocausts and peace offerings: and the Lord became merciful to the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

⁶ But Levi and Benjamin he did not number: for Joab unwillingly executed the king's orders.

^{4 (13:5)} Lest at any time my enemy say: I have prevailed against him. They that trouble me, will rejoice when I am moved:

² In thee, O my God, I put my trust; let me not be ashamed.

⁶ He hath exalted me upon a rock: and now he hath lifted up my head above my enemies. I have gone round, and have offered up in his tabernacle a sacrifice of jubilation: I will sing, and recite a psalm to the Lord.

⁹ Save, O Lord, thy people, and bless thy inheritance: and rule them and exalt them for ever.

^{3 (34:4)} O magnify the Lord with me; and let us extol his name together. ^{4 (34:5)} I sought the Lord, and he heard me; and he delivered me from all my troubles.

¹⁹ Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes.

²⁴ Judge me, O Lord my God according to thy justice, and let them not rejoice over me. ²⁵ Let them not say in their hearts: It is well, it is well, to our mind: neither let them say: We have swallowed him up.

^{11 (41:12)} By this I know, that thou hast had a good will for me: because my enemy shall not rejoice over me.

¹⁷ I cried to him with my mouth: and I extolled him with my tongue.

⁴ We are become a reproach to our neighbours: a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

¹⁰ Lest they should say among the Gentiles: Where is their God? And let him be made known among the nations before our eyes, By the revenging the blood of thy servants, which hath been shed:

^{41 (89:42)} All that pass by the way have robbed him: he is become a reproach to his neighbours. ^{42 (89:43)} Thou hast set up the right hand of them that oppress him: thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice. ^{43 (89:44)} Thou hast turned away the help of his sword; and hast not assisted him in battle. ^{44 (89:45)} Thou hast made his purification to cease: and thou hast cast his throne down to the ground. ^{45 (89:46)} Thou hast shortened the days of his time: thou hast covered him with confusion. ^{46 (89:47)} How long, O Lord, turnest thou away unto the end? shall thy anger burn like fire?

^{8 (140:9)} Give me not up, O Lord, from my desire to the wicked: they have plotted against me; do not thou forsake me, lest they should triumph.

¹ Praise, for David himself. I will extol thee, O God my king: and I will bless thy name for ever; yea, for ever and ever.

¹⁵ Samech. All they that passed by the way have clapped their hands at thee: they have hissed, and wagged their heads at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying: Is this the city of perfect beauty, the joy of all the earth?

^{37 (4:34)} Therefore I, Nabuchodonosor, do now praise, and magnify, and glorify the King of heaven: because all his works are true, and his ways judgments, and them that walk in pride he is able to abase.
