²⁰ Yea, brother. May I enjoy thee in the Lord! Refresh my bowels in the Lord.

² For if I make you sorrowful, who is he then that can make me glad, but the same who is made sorrowful by me?

⁴ Great is my confidence for you: great is my glorying for you. I am filled with comfort: I exceedingly abound with joy in all our tribulation. ⁵ For also, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest: but we suffered all tribulation. Combats without: fears within. ⁶ But God, who comforteth the humble, comforted us by the coming of Titus. ⁷ And not by his coming only, but also by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, relating to us your desire, your mourning, your zeal for me: so that I rejoiced the more.

¹³ Before God: therefore we were comforted. But in our consolation we did the more abundantly rejoice for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

⁸ For God is my witness how I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

¹ If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of charity, if any society of the spirit, if any bowels of commiseration: ² Fulfil ye my joy, that you be of one mind, having the same charity, being of one accord, agreeing in sentiment.

¹ Therefore my dearly beloved brethren and most desired, my joy and my crown: so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

¹⁹ For what is our hope or joy or crown of glory? Are not you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? ²⁰ For you are our glory and joy.

⁷ Therefore we were comforted, brethren, in you, in all our necessity and tribulation, by your faith. ⁸ Because now we live, if you stand in the Lord. ⁹ For what thanks can we return to God for you, in all the joy wherewith we rejoice for you before our God,

⁷ For I have had great joy and consolation in thy charity, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed by thee, brother.

¹² Whom I have sent back to thee. And do thou receive him as my own bowels.

¹⁷ Obey your prelates and be subject to them. For they watch as being to render an account of your souls: that they may do this with joy and not with grief. For this is not expedient for you.

¹⁷ He that hath the substance of this world and shall see his brother in need and shall shut up his bowels from him: how doth the charity of God abide in him?

⁴ I have no greater grace than this, to hear that my children walk in truth.
