³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.

⁹ Who hath said to his father, and to his mother: I do not know you; and to his bretheren: I know you not: and their own children they have not known. These have kept thy word, and observed thy covenant,

⁸ Then he saith to his servants: The marriage indeed is ready; but they that were invited were not worthy.

¹⁴ For the charity of Christ presseth us: judging this, that if one died for all, then all were dead. ¹⁵ And Christ died for all: that they also who live may not now live to themselves, but unto him who died for them and rose again.

⁷ But the things that were gain to me, the same I have counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Furthermore, I count all things to be but loss for the excellent knowledge of Jesus Christ, my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them but as dung, that I may gain Christ. ⁹ And may be found in him, not having my justice, which is of the law, but that which is of the faith of Christ Jesus, which is of God: justice in faith.

⁵ For an example of the just judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which also you suffer. ⁶ Seeing it is a just thing with God to repay tribulation to them that trouble you: ⁷ And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with the angels of his power:

⁴ But thou hast a few names in Sardis which have not defiled their garments: and they shall walk with me in white, because they are worthy.
