¹ And he entered again into the synagogue: and there was a man there who had a withered hand.

⁴ And when the king had heard the word of the man of God, which he had cried out against the altar in Bethel, he stretched forth his hand from the altar, saying: Lay hold on him. And his hand which he stretched forth against him, withered: and he was not able to draw it back again to him.

⁹ And when he had passed from thence, he came into their synagogues. ¹⁰ And behold there was a man who had a withered hand, and they asked him, saying: Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. ¹¹ But he said to them: What man shall there be among you, that hath one sheep: and if the same fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not take hold on it and lift it up? ¹² How much better is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do a good deed on the sabbath days. ¹³ Then he saith to the man: Stretch forth thy hand; and he stretched it forth, and it was restored to health even as the other. ¹⁴ And the Pharisees going out made a consultation against him, how they might destroy him.

²¹ And they entered into Capharnaum: and forthwith upon the sabbath days going into the synagogue, he taught them.

⁶ And it came to pass also, on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught. And there was a man whose right hand was withered. ⁷ And the scribes and Pharisees watched if he would heal on the sabbath: that they might find an accusation against him. ⁸ But he knew their thoughts and said to the man who had the withered hand: Arise and stand forth in the midst. And rising he stood forth. ⁹ Then Jesus said to them: I ask you, if it be lawful on the sabbath days to do good or to do evil? To save life or to destroy? ¹⁰ And looking round about on them all, he said to the man: Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth. And his hand was restored. ¹¹ And they were filled with madness: and they talked one with another, what they might do to Jesus.

³ In these lay a great multitude of sick, of blind, of lame, of withered: waiting for the moving of the water.
