¹³ And when he had seen afar off a fig tree having leaves, he came, if perhaps he might find any thing on it. And when he was come to it, he found nothing but leaves. For it was not the time for figs.

¹⁹ And seeing a certain fig tree by the way side, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves only. And he saith to it: May no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away.

³¹ And it chanced, that a certain priest went down the same way: and seeing him, passed by.

⁶ Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? ⁷ Yea, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: you are of more value than many sparrows.

⁶ He spoke also this parable: A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard: and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. ⁷ And he said to the dresser of the vineyard: Behold, for these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree and I find none. Cut it down therefore. Why cumbereth it the ground? ⁸ But he answering, said to him: Lord, let it alone this year also, until I dig about it and dung it. ⁹ And if happily it bear fruit: but if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
