²² And all gave testimony to him. And they wondered at the words of grace that proceeded from his mouth. And they said: Is not this the son of Joseph?

^{2 (45:3)} Thou art beautiful above the sons of men: grace is poured abroad in thy lips; therefore hath God blessed thee for ever.

^{4 (45:5)} With thy comeliness and thy beauty set out, proceed prosperously, and reign. Because of truth and meekness and justice: and thy right hand shall conduct thee wonderfully.

³² The lips of the just consider what is acceptable: and the mouth of the wicked uttereth perverse things.

²¹ The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and he that is sweet in words, shall attain to greater things.

¹¹ To speak a word in due time, is like apples of gold on beds of silver.

¹⁰ He sought profitable words, and wrote words most right, and full of truth. ¹¹ The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails deeply fastened in, which by the counsel of masters are given from one shepherd.

¹⁶ His throat most sweet, and he is all lovely: such is my beloved, and he is my friend, O ye daughters of Jerusalem.

⁴ The Lord hath given me a learned tongue, that I should know how to uphold by word him that is weary: he wakeneth in the morning, in the morning he wakeneth my ear, that I may hear him as a master.

⁵⁴ And coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogues, so that they wondered and said: How came this man by this wisdom and miracles? ⁵⁵ Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude: ⁵⁶ And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence therefore hath he all these things?

² And when the Sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were in admiration at his doctrine, saying: How came this man by all these things? and what wisdom is this that is given to him, and such mighty works as are wrought by his hands? ³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joseph, and Jude, and Simon? are not also his sisters here with us? And they were scandalized in regard of him.

⁴⁷ And all that heard him were astonished at his wisdom and his answers.

¹⁵ For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to resist and gainsay.

⁴² And they said: Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then saith he: I came down from heaven?

⁴⁶ The ministers answered: Never did man speak like this man.

¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit that spoke.

⁸ The sound word that can not be blamed: that he who is on the contrary part may be afraid, having no evil to say of us.
