¹⁶ He diggeth through houses in the dark, as in the day they had appointed for themselves, and they have not known the light.

² If a thief be found breaking open a house or undermining it, and be wounded so as to die: he that slew him shall not be guilty of blood. ³ But if he did this when the sun is risen, he hath committed murder, and he shall die. If he have not wherewith to make restitution for the theft, he shall be sold.

¹³ They have been rebellious to the light, they have not known his ways, neither have they returned by his paths.

¹² Didst thou since thy birth command the morning, and shew the dawning of the day its place? ¹³ And didst thou hold the extremities of the earth shaking them, and hast thou shaken the ungodly out of it?

⁵ Dig thee a way through the wall before their eyes: and thou shalt go forth through it. ⁶ In their sight thou shalt be carried out upon men's shoulders, thou shalt be carried out in the dark: thou shalt cover thy face, and shalt not see the ground: for I have set thee for a sign of things to come to the house of Israel. ⁷ I did therefore as he had commanded me: I brought forth my goods by day, as the goods of one that removeth: and in the evening I digged through the wall with my hand, and I went forth in the dark, and was carried on men's shoulders in their sight.

¹² And the prince that is in the midst of them, shall be carried on shoulders, he shall go forth in the dark: they shall dig through the wall to bring him out: his face shall be covered, that he may not see the ground with his eyes.

¹⁹ Lay not up to yourselves treasures on earth: where the rust, and moth consume, and where thieves break through, and steal.

⁴³ But this know ye, that, if the goodman of the house knew at what hour the thief would come, he would certainly watch and would not suffer his house to be broken open.

²⁰ For every one that doth evil hateth the light and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved.

¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness: but rather reprove them. ¹² For the things that are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of. ¹³ But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for all that is made manifest is light.
