² Because I came, and there was not a man: I called, and there was none that would hear. Is my hand shortened and become little, that I cannot redeem? or is there no strength in me to deliver? Behold at my rebuke I will make the sea a desert, I will turn the rivers into dry land: the fishes shall rot for want of water, and shall die for thirst.

¹⁴ Is there any thing hard to God? According to appointment I will return to thee at this same time, life accompanying, and Sara shall have a son.

¹⁸ And the fishes that are in the river, shall die, and the waters shall be corrupted, and the Egyptians shall be afflicted when they drink the water of the river.

²¹ And the fishes that were in the river died; and the river corrupted, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river, and there was blood in all the land of Egypt.

²¹ And when Moses had stretched forth his hand over the sea, the Lord took it away by a strong and burning wind blowing all the night, and turned it into dry ground: and the water was divided.

⁹ And he rebuked the Red Sea and it was dried up: and he led them through the depths, as in a wilderness.

³³ He hath turned rivers into a wilderness: and the sources of waters into dry ground:

³ The sea saw and fled: Jordan was turned back. ⁴ The mountains skipped like rams, and the hills like the lambs of the flock. ⁵ What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou didst flee: and thou, O Jordan, that thou wast turned back? ⁶ Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams, and ye hills, like lambs of the flock? ⁷ At the presence of the Lord the earth was moved, at the presence of the God of Jacob:

²⁴ Because I called, and you refused: I stretched out my hand, and there was none that regarded.

⁵ And the water of the sea shall be dried up, and the river shall be wasted and dry.

²⁰ Who is there among all the gods of these lands, that hath delivered his country out of my hand, that the Lord may deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

²⁸ And I saw, and there was no one even among them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.

¹⁵ I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and will make all their grass to wither: and I will turn rivers into islands, and will dry up the standing pools.

¹⁶ Thus saith the Lord, who made a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters.

¹⁰ Hast not thou dried up the sea, the water of the mighty deep, who madest the depth of the sea a way, that the delivered might pass over?

¹ Behold the hand of the Lord is not shortened that it cannot save, neither is his ear heavy that it cannot hear.

¹⁶ And he saw that there is not a man: and he stood astonished, because there is none to oppose himself: and his own arm brought salvation to him, and his own justice supported him.

¹³ He that led them out through the deep, as a horse in the wilderness that stumbleth not.

¹² I will number you in the sword, and you shall all fall by slaughter: because I called and you did not answer: I spoke, and you did not hear: and you did evil in my eyes, and you have chosen the things that displease me.

⁴ Wherefore I also will choose their mockeries, and will bring upon them the things they feared: because I called, and there was none that would answer; I have spoken, and they heard not; and they have done evil in my eyes, and have chosen the things that displease me.

¹ Go about through the streets of Jerusalem, and see, and consider, and seek in the broad places thereof, if you can find a man that executeth judgment, and seeketh faith: and I will be merciful unto it.

¹³ And now, because you have done all these works, saith the Lord: and I have spoken to you rising up early, and speaking, and you have not heard: and I have called you, and you have not answered:

⁶ I attended, and hearkened; no man speaketh what is good, there is none that doth penance for his sin, saying: What have I done? They are all turned to their own course, as a horse rushing to the battle.

¹⁵ And I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising early, and sending and saying: Return ye every man from his wicked way, and make your ways good: and follow not strange gods, nor worship them, and you shall dwell in the land, which I gave you and your fathers: and you have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened to me.

¹⁵ Now, therefore, if you be ready, at what hour soever, you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, flute, harp, sackbut, and psaltery, and symphony, and of all kind of music, prostrate yourselves, and adore the statue which I have made: but if you do not adore, you shall be cast the same hour into the furnace of burning fire: and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hand?

^{29 (3:96)} By me, therefore, this decree is made: That every people, tribe, and tongue, which shall speak blasphemy against the God of Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago, shall be destroyed, and their houses laid waste: for there is no other God that can save in this manner.

²⁰ And coming near to the den, cried with a lamentable voice to Daniel, and said to him: Daniel, servant of the living God, hath thy God, whom thou servest always, been able, thinkest thou, to deliver thee from the lions?

²⁷ He is the deliverer, and saviour, doing signs and wonders in heaven, and in earth: who hath delivered Daniel out of the lions' den.

² As they called them, they went away from before their face: they offered victims to Baalim, and sacrificed to idols.

⁷ And my people shall long for my return: but a yoke shall be put upon them together, which shall not be taken off.

⁴ He rebuketh the sea and drieth it up: and bringeth all the rivers to be a desert. Basan languisheth and Carmel: and the flower of Libanus fadeth away.

³⁹ And rising up, he rebuked the wind, and said to the sea: Peace, be still. And the wind ceased: and there was made a great calm.

¹¹ He came unto his own: and his own received him not.

¹⁹ And this is the judgment: Because the light is come into the world and men loved darkness rather than the light: for their works were evil.
