¹ And now hear, O Jacob, my servant, and Israel whom I have chosen.

⁷ And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and between thy seed after thee in their generations, by a perpetual covenant: to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee.

⁶ Because thou art a holy people to the Lord thy God. The Lord thy God hath chosen thee, to be his peculiar people of all peoples that are upon the earth. ⁷ Not because you surpass all nations in number, is the Lord joined unto you, and hath chosen you, for you are the fewest of any people: ⁸ But because the Lord hath loved you, and hath kept his oath, which he swore to your fathers: and hath brought you out with a strong hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, out of the hand of Pharao the king of Egypt.

^{11 (81:12)} But my people heard not my voice: and Israel hearkened not to me. ^{12 (81:13)} So I let them go according to the desires of their heart: they shall walk in their own inventions. ^{13 (81:14)} If my people had heard me: if Israel had walked in my ways:

⁶ O ye seed of Abraham his servant; ye sons of Jacob his chosen.

⁴² Because he remembered his holy word, which he had spoken to his servant Abraham. ⁴³ And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness.

⁸ But thou Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend:

²³ Who is there among you that will give ear to this, that will attend and hearken for times to come?

¹ And now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and formed thee, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed thee, and called thee by thy name: thou art mine.

¹⁶ Come ye near unto me, and hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning: from the time before it was done, I was there, and now the Lord God hath sent me, and his spirit. ¹⁷ Thus saith the Lord thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord thy God that teach thee profitable things, that govern thee in the way that thou walkest. ¹⁸ O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments: thy peace had been as a river, and thy justice as the waves of the sea,

³ Incline your ear and come to me: hear and your soul shall live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the faithful mercies of David.

⁷ The lion is come up out of his den, and the robber of nations hath roused himself: he is come forth out of his place, to make thy land desolate: thy cities shall be laid waste, remaining without an inhabitant.

¹⁰ Therefore fear thou not, my servant Jacob, saith the Lord, neither be dismayed, O Israel: for behold, I will save thee from a country afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity: and Jacob shall return, and be at rest, and abound with all good things, and there shall be none whom he may fear:

²⁷ And thou my servant Jacob, fear not and be not thou dismayed, O Israel: for behold I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed out of the land of thy captivity: and Jacob shall return and be at rest, and prosper: and there shall be none to terrify him. ²⁸ And thou, my servant Jacob, fear not, saith the Lord: because I am with thee, for I will consume all the nations to which I have cast thee out: but thee I will not consume, but I will correct thee in judgment, neither will I spare thee as if thou wert innocent.

³⁴ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets; and stonest them that are sent to thee, how often would I have gathered thy children as the bird doth her brood under her wings, and thou wouldest not?

⁵ Even so then, at this present time also, there is a remnant saved according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, it is not now by works: otherwise grace is no more grace.

⁷ Wherefore, as the Holy Ghost saith: To-day if you shall hear his voice, ⁸ Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the desert,
