¹² To whom he said: This is my rest, refresh the weary, and this is my refreshing: and they would not hear.

¹¹ And he called upon the Lord God, and said: Lord, there is no difference with thee, whether thou help with few, or with many: help us, O Lord our God: for with confidence in thee, and in thy name we are come against this multitude. O Lord thou art our God, let not man prevail against thee.

⁸ Were not the Ethiopians, and the Libyans much more numerous in chariots, and horsemen, and an exceeding great multitude: yet because thou trustedst in the Lord, he delivered them into thy hand? ⁹ For the eyes of the Lord behold all the earth, and give strength to those who with a perfect heart trust in him. Wherefore thou hast done foolishly, and for this cause from this time wars shall arise against thee.

¹⁶ Thus saith the Lord: Stand ye on the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, which is the good way, and walk ye in it: and you shall find refreshment for your souls. And they said: We will not walk.

¹⁶ As for the word which thou hast spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not hearken to thee:

¹¹ But they would not hearken, and they turned away the shoulder to depart: and they stopped their ears, not to hear.

¹⁴ And I dispersed them throughout all kingdoms, which they know not: and the land was left desolate behind them, so that no man passed through or returned: and they changed the delightful land into a wilderness.

²⁸ Come to me all you that labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you. ²⁹ Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: And you shall find rest to your souls.

²⁵ See that you refuse him not that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke upon earth, much more shall not we that turn away from him that speaketh to us from heaven.
