⁹ There remaineth therefore a day of rest for the people of God.

^{9 (47:10)} The princes of the people are gathered together, with the God of Abraham: for the strong gods of the earth are exceedingly exalted.

¹⁰ In that day the root of Jesse, who standeth for an ensign of the people, him the Gentiles shall beseech, and his sepulchre shall be glorious.

² Let peace come, let him rest in his bed that hath walked in his uprightness.

¹⁹ Thou shalt no more have the sun for thy light by day, neither shall the brightness of the moon enlighten thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee for an everlasting light, and thy God for thy glory. ²⁰ Thy sun shall go down no more, and thy moon shall not decrease: for the Lord shall be unto thee for an everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

²¹ And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Jesus. For he shall save his people from their sins.

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.

¹¹ As I have sworn in my wrath: If they shall enter into my rest.

¹ Let us fear therefore lest, the promise being left of entering into his rest, any of you should be thought to be wanting.

³ For we, who have believed, shall enter into rest; as he said: As I have sworn in my wrath: If they shall enter into my rest; and this indeed when the works from the foundation of the world were finished.

²⁵ Rather choosing to be afflicted with the people of God than to have the pleasure of sin for a time:

¹⁰ Who in times past were not a people: but are now the people of God. Who had not obtained mercy: but now have obtained mercy.

¹⁴ And I said to him: My Lord, thou knowest. And he said to me: These are they who are come out of great tribulation and have washed their robes and have made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore, they are before the throne of God: and they serve him day and night in his temple. And he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell over them. ¹⁶ They shall no more hunger nor thirst: neither shall the sun fall on them, nor any heat. ¹⁷ For the Lamb, which is in the midst of the throne, shall rule them and shall lead them to the fountains of the waters of life: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

⁴ And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and death shall be no more. Nor mourning, nor crying, nor sorrow shall be any more, for the former things are passed away.
